Google Algorithm change?

Has anybody else noticed/experienced an algorithm change possibly? my competitor dropped off the face of the earth to like page 30 and my site went to #1 for my keywords, resulting in amazing traffic for me.

Does anybody know about this or know where I can read more about it? also if this is not true i'm sorry it's possible he was just penalized but I've heard there may have been one so I figured I'd ask if anyone knew where the best source of information was

I started a similar thread about an hour ago, there's been some big drops in my rankings since yesterday. All my properties seem to be influenced by it (no interlinking) so I too assume this is some sort of algorithm change.

I have a feeling it could be penguin or panda related. I cleaned up a lot of old bad seo from the past 2 years plus adding some quality content and links and saw some nice keyword boosts recently. Mozcast also shows some high serp weather in the past week or two.

I've seen some weird drops over the past week. I suspect that it is content (Panda?) related, focusing on thin & generic content that does not provide value to the end user.
