Hi guys I recently started consulting for clients for PPC. I found they already tried PPC and the all time Account CTR is 0.07 which I think is very bad. The account has 4 years history and has spent around $94,000. Is it better to use same account for start fresh a new account?

4 years history is pretty nice, and that raise the credibility of the account.
low CTR is a problem, but as long as the quality score is decent then the account is in good shape...

I agree, a 4 year old Adwords account has history and if the guy's spent that amount of cash then it's gold. The CTR can be sorted but 4 years worth of an Adwords account is gold.

CTR of 0.07 probably means that he doesn't know shit about how to setup a good Adwords campaign. The age of the account wouldn't effect the CTR by any means, since it's based on each campaign. Just make sure you start a new campaign from scratch and if you do everything well you should definitely improve the CTR.

4 year old adwords account is definitely gold!

^^I agree with KillerHeck. 4 year old adwords account is a great benefit.

^ don't start again.. just create a new campaign.

I don't know why you would even say that.. having an old account with history is always a plus.. just for the fact of how google will ban accounts for no reason. I know this isn't adsense.. but still. having spent that much money and it being in the history of the account. you should never run into a problem with google really. not saying you could start disobeying all their rules. but if you did happen to screw up somewhere.. they'd probably be more lenient with you because of the age and money spent.

Think i have justified myself already - for better quality score so you pay less! Accounts don't get banned for no reason either, people try and run adword campaigns without doing any of their adword exams and wonder why they run into difficulties. I run an adwords qualified company and run a lot of adword campaigns and go to Google agency days every 3 months. This question comes up a lot...

I have never read anywhere that the age of an account effects quality score. Sure if you copy a good account and run it on a new account you probaly won't get the same quality score straight away but that's because it will give you estimated quality score until you have account history and ctr to factor in.
