Goodbye, Facebook

Just a FYI:

"They" have estimated. Who are they to estimate this? I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 5 services here selling editorial links on Inc, I don't exactly regard wordstream/inc as the goto for facebook analytics...

There will be an impact, but I say this as a full time facebook advertiser; I'm glad this is happening. I am sick and tired of fighting against viral content for adspace when my content is clearly more defined and action based.

is good for u but I " expect u have to pay more " Fortune , dot got article on FB stock price drop about the new changed, but investor is quite confident it will regain back as they know FB going to push for revenue from Ad , aka means u might be paying even more , FB don't have value , how they earn? Of course from ad can range from Gov agencies especially as they pay a lot to spread their service and propaganda than come establish industries , Rang from APPLE , etc established website markeitng buying ad space and down to small players like us.

NOT to forget, they also disable lots of FB users account , Simple rules what infringement, etc etc stuffs, Social media is all about sharing , EVEN U put credit to the creator, also will get ban due to infringement . I doubt the owner will report AS you have put credit is the owner work and post yet FB will claim you are posting infrightment stuffs. Next those have their account disable before , will not be able to create new Account So on the other hand they want to " curb fake accounts but also ruin REAL users behind "

For every ad type? Will lead ads prices skyrocket? I'm assuming they will but it seems like this is targeted more at content specifically.

Zuckerberg feels that facebook is destroying society, but then he takes a look at the $150 mil mansion bought with Facebook money and that feeling goes away.

Facebook is aiming to cater to users (real people who interact with friends and family about "normal" friends and family stuff). They don't want people's feeds over-saturated with marketing and business stuff. That's the underlining factor.

We'll just have to adapt and change, that's all there is to it. During the 90's and early 2000's in the NBA, then commissioner, David Stern, implemented a whole heap of rule changes to make the game more professional and exciting for the fans. Players didn't complain about "oh f*ck David Stern, he's making it harder for us, they adapted and changed. Different context, but I'm just trying to explain the principle.

I'll probably focus on other platforms for now and then tackle Facebook at a later time when things settle down. Or maybe I should just jump in it now... hmm.. we'll see.

The estimate is probably based on page to friend ratio on FB. A person on average likes X pages and has 200X friends.

But we'll find out soon enough.

Using any metric at this point implies the analyst has an understanding of the variables in play. I really doubt Inc or wordstream do.

Wordstream may be in ad analytics, but they specialise in AdWords which is completely different to Facebook advertisement. + it's in their best interest to drive Facebook advertisers to Google more no? ...

I have no doubt that there will be a change in page visibility but the claims this article makes are unsubstantiated and hugely overstated. Relying on such articles is therefore pointless because they lose all credibility.

Isn't there a saying; "don't trust a journalist that uses unreferenced statistics" or some shit?

Not trying to shit on you or anything, just trying to prevent any unnecessary fear for any newbs that just started browsing bhw. This thread is the top thread in Facebook section, it really doesn't bode well for those that are just starting ...

Google and Facebook will always adjust, we just have to adjust too. They are powerhouses, we are just the little guys. If you can't accept this fundamental truth then you should really be saying goodbye Google too. In which case you are wiping off almost 70% of your accessible advertising space (combined with fb) , not advisable imo...

For me it's pretty clear what's happened. Facebooks own information has told them growth has stopped, interaction is declining and younger people are not joining the platform. To pre-empt this and the resulting stock price crash on a few quarters of declining revenue announcements Saint Mark has got in there first and announced he wants to promote more meaningful interactions and is reducing business posts and said this will result in people spending less time on Facebook. He's avoided a massive stock price correction by disguising the coming user decline as something he has done for the good of humanity. He's the worlds biggest scammer and is laughing at us all in his shit T-shirt lol.

Yes but they are kinda strict on infringement stuffs , let say u share one than your friend also share OR your friend post and you share , so u see Bound to have people commit infringement stuffs , they are using BOT to scan etc OK OK fair enough FB does claim after couple of warnings they will just disable your account no question ask , BUT ok u want to be good , create a New account they just don't let u re create it , HOWEVER , many fake accounts still out there, , no matter how they want to curb fake users etc , using this way it will indirectly hurt the REAL users wanna use

I think facebook will limit the display of our ads, then no one wants to bring money to facebook again :(

Nope, is depend How influence u are , is more towards more Gov agencies , big corporations ads , FB as I have mention don't have value itself , is just a platform to earn from Ads , what they can gain IF just only users inside comments this and that to gov news " perhaps Gov behind also collaborate with them which is kinda true "

I think online advertising will see a very steep decline regardless. Newbs should be prepared.

I agree about preparing, and I also agree about the decline, but I think all these articles should be read with a pinch of salt. It's in wordstream's best interest to push Facebook advertisers to Google adwords more as they will be more inclined to use wordstreams software/similar software.

An article of a VP opposing this was published today. It read:

"Mosseri says Facebook changed its algorithm not to fight "fake news," but because the company was noticing more Page posts and videos being posted overall. It needed to make sure this flood of content wasn't drowning out social interactions that Facebook was built upon. So the company is going to favor material that is shared and commented upon."

what a joke, initially Facebook just post words and image, if I remember well initial when I join I does remember don't have video live stream Than they implement user can show live stream , post videos . Than some marketers come out Live bidding stream let people bid , than come people post videos just like upload video on youtube ,

than I noticed FB feel kinda lag after they implement theses features, is not my computer can't cope , is because I suspect their server like overload with tons of videos, , live streamings ,
