They had an update last year that specifically targeted these kind of sites. I suspect the recent core update really affected them too. If you ever have been researching products and searched "best xyz" it's obvious why Google doesn't like those types of sites. They want their search engine to provide useful informative results. No judgement since I'm here too trying to game Google's system, but when I'm searching as a regular person and not an SEO I have to admit it's a problem.

What about selling your own products? Isn't it that Google and people want less copywriting and want more content marketing?
Users, of course, don't want to be sold something in every place. It's annoying.

Well building a niche website with somewhat readable sense content, Blasting a few hundred Do follows churn the site and burn in a couple of few months is still a win-win situation than big long projects. IMO . (Ofc when things to come to blogging )

What you did wrong was getting comfortable with just one site or one project. When it was all working out fine, you should've diversified. If not more blogs, then other projects like a small ecom project or something else.
I've seen most people get comfortable when the money is coming in without factoring in what to do if things go south.

Remember that was just a traffic generation channel.
You didn't turn your traffic into paying, loyal clients.
Keep that in mind next time.

I have more afffiliate articles than informative ones. I have read Google penalizing those that have more affiliate articles but I have seen that the a lot of websites with mostly affiliate content are still alive doing well.

Go get laid, do a couple lines of cocaine, go bungee jumping? My point is, go recharge, take a break and come back. If you have good content and links then it's only a matter of time before your site bounces back. The ups an downs are part of SEO, learn to live with it.

If you are short on cash, there is never too many businesses. If you don't make mid 6 figures, it's safe to keep that one source of income where you can just work for someone part time.
Be it fiverr, BST thread on BHW or cold calling people and agencies, you should keep some b2b relationships or have a way to quickly build them.
Please, don't make writers and SEOs look like some insane people. We are capable of working well paid jobs in many fields. Sometimes we just get comfortable, but that's about it. Ignore the comfort and get your life back on the track, whether it's about becoming a sales rep for your newly created business or an engineer selling his hours.
There is too many people on the forum who ran their offline business to count. It's just not worth it in terms of margins.

You only need people and common sense. You won't find that info in Google cause each business is different. You can read marketing books to have some guidelines but that's only a little part. Everything must be figured out by you - the business owner.

I feel the same as you. My tech blog used to get 3,500 organic visitors a day and now it's down to 1,000. My other websites have been gone for months as well. I am paralyzed and I don't know what to do now.
I'm thinking of focusing 100% on my tech blog, trying to bring it back and making a community. The problem is that people just come in to solve their problem with their smartphone and leave. I need them to stay and try to sell an info product or something similar...
