Good ways to promote a gaming stream

I play dota with my friends pretty often and their pretty good and want to start streaming. Anyone know any good tips and tricks on promoting a stream? Any help or links to some good resources to learn from would be awesome!

From what I've learn from streaming and watching successful streamers is that you have to be interactive with your viewers. TALK TO THEM! No one wants to just watch someone sit there silently and playing games.

You should also have ACTIVE & INTERACTIVE mods that will talk to your streamers, answer questions, and moderate the chat (kicking people who are toxic to your chat)

One more thing would be to be CONSISTENT with streaming. Don't be discouraged if your first few days only have 1 - 10~ viewers total, it will grow as your stream more and consistently.

There are members here that provide Twitch.TV followers and views so that you can become a twitch partner. That's the best advice I can give.

I suggest finding an already popular streamer and getting them to provide shout outs or advertisements to your stream through whatever means you prefer, even if it's just them making a link in the stream chat every now and again.

Another successful streaming practice is having giveaways.
