I've seen a bunch of threads bemoaning newbie slaying recently. BHW absolutely welcomes newbies, and its a great forum to progress their skills. However, there are a variety of things that newbs can do, to avoid annoying more seasoned members. Lets use this thread for suggestions, so I can generate a nice bullet point list to send newer members towards for their safety and our sanity.

I'll get the ball rolling.

1. Spend time reading threads and getting acquainted with the forum etiquette before making your first post.
2. Make your first post in the introductions forum, introduce yourself.
3. Do make posts where you outline how you have tried to resolve your own question, results of trying a method, or detailed questions as to why something doesnt work - these will get you 100 times more replies and help than generic questions with no background.
4. Don't start 'How Can I Make $XXX in Internet Marketing' or 'Does Internet Marketing work' threads.
5. Don't use text speak, or any other juvenile type of language - BHW is a professionals board.
6. If a more seasoned member tells you to calm down or back off, heed their advice, they have survived longer than you - and there is a reason for that.
7. Don't immediately try to post a JV or BST - or worse again bypass the correct areas for these. You dont get to sell or partner up until people know you are a decent person.
8. Don't EVER use ASAP in a post or PM, especially to staff, this is super annoying.
9. If you are unsure if you are allowed to make a certain type of post - dont make the post, lurk more to find out the answer.
10. Respect is given to those who help themselves.

Please add your own suggestions for newbies to this thread, i'll compile the list when I have enough pointers.

Thanks for your help!

Updated with user contributions:

11) Read the entire thread instead of just posting new questions which probably have already been answered before.
12) Use the search function before you post a new thread. This forum has been around for so long and is so big that there is a pretty big chance that there is already a question about the topic/question you want to post.
13) Do not start posting meaningless/irrelevant posts in grandfathered threads just to get your post count up to a level where you can send PMs.
14) Learn how to use [wta], [wts], [wth] or [wtb], before you create a misleading title, and someone wtf you ...
15) Do NOT create threads with "PM me for more info". If you really want to share something valuable, share it openly in the Public.
16) Use the search function at times when you are in doubt.
17) For all dropshippers, they should include prices in thread not to say PM to get prices.
18) Address more respected members (more time here, more posts/thanks/rep) with the respect they deserve.
19) Once you PM a senior member, moderator or Admin, just wait. Do not repeatedly PM them.
20) Dont join IRC with the only purpose of asking about a BST approval - stay a while, have a chat with the other BHW users, if you are friendly and a decent person, you will get helped much quicker.
21) Avoid Buying Stuff/services outside BST. Do not invest money on any project unless you know the guy very well.
22) Dont PM members whom you dont know asking them for help. This is not a support forum, people are busy with their own projects, and if they decide to help its because they are nice people. Keep your questions within a thread, so that everyone can benefit.
23) While investing in a JV, do your own research and use some "Common Sense" while dealing since BHW isn't responsible for your losses if any occur in future.

I would like to add "Address more respected members (more time here, more posts/thanks/rep) with the respect they deserve." - I am not saying that I might add myself in that category, but these people have dedicated a lot of their time (which they could have used to bank even more on their knowledge) in helping other members achieve their goals, and they at least deserve the respect of someone asking for the same thing.

21. Don't Offer Advice If You're Not Sure About Something - This Could hurt Others Wasting Their Time and Money
22. Before Posting a Sales Thread Read BST Rules

23) I think this is one of important things : Be Friendly in BHW, dont post offensive comments and dont blame others because of something, help instead of posting bad comments

24) If you get an infraction - dont argue with the Moderator about it, and do not complain in thread about it. Most infractions expire after some time, and are used as warnings so that staff dont need to ban you. Take the lesson and move on.

and what about permanent infraction given for one sentence posted as a joke in the lounge ?
is this fair and logic ? why don't post advices for stuff as well how to use moderation tools
