Okay so I'm just getting starting i want to create a niche blog thinking of using wordpress and host monster as a hosting service. I never made a site before so it will take some time and hopefully make some money then move onto running several sites. I need some help on deciding if the niche market i have is good.

I used adwords tool and theres 1.5 million exact global searches a month with 246,000 local. And according to adwords the competition is low

Could this be a good niche market? and how do i check the competition? i would also like to point there are a lot of products that go along with the niche in order to promote

thats too high to be exact. double check that

Download traffic travis or Samurai. Do your research. Also make sure there isn't a lot of advertisers... Also, If your trying to compete for a brand name.. It isn't worth it. Sometimes 'walmart' may have a lot of monthly hits, and the traffic might be low, but the number of legitimate backlinks to the few sites competing would be impossible to outrank.

Man, the infos you gave us are not very complete, also the competition you see in adwords are for PPC not the SEO competition, a keyword with 1.5 million exact will be competitive i think or maybe a general keyword not a buying keyword or something that sells, also it will have a low CPC if the competition is low so it will not help when using adwords.
Try to go for less competitive keywords even whith low search results, it will be more easy to rank for, you definitely must learn how to do proper keyword research, here's the best keyword research threads on BHW

Also install traffic travis free version, it will give you competition level then if you want post a screenshot of the results here (of course after hiding the urls and the keyword :) ) and we might help you.
Pm me if you need an idea about the best SEO courses you can find in the download section.
Good luck.

balsagoth007 gave you all information you need to get started. Just remember you will make mistakes for sure and it is common. Learn from your mistakes and never repeat it again. That's the key for success :) good luck!

If its you first site, I suggest you start out on something with less monthly searches and less pages to compete with. Choose a longer tail keyword phrase and own it. Basically, start out small and refine your skills until you are totally confident with your method, then scale it up. There will probably be people that disagree with me here, its just my opinion. Take it or leave it. :D

Those figures would set alarm bells ringing for me. There's got to be some reason why competition is so low.

"High Search Volume" + "High Number of Products Available" SHOULD EQUAL "Massive Competition".

There's something not quite right here. My guess is (from the figures you quoted) that the search term is way too broad. You just don't get search volumes of 1.5 Million from a tightly-targeted niche!

And if you go too 'broad', you lose focus and end up with too many casual browsers who aren't ready to buy. You lose all the advantages of laser targetting, (which is what we should always be aiming for as marketers).

By the way, Adword Tool does not tell you a competition strengths. So logically your statement is incorrect!!

If you never made a site before that is not a problem at all , you just need to go to the sites and find the templates already there and edit them .
Good niche can be considered as the one where searches are high but competition is low .
You just only need to be sure that the niche blog you want to create must have a less competition and adword tool is the best way to check that .
Also you need to be unique with your content .

Hi there, i'm a noob too and for now i'm just trying to find keyword, analyse them and keep them for later...
But i don't really know how to well analyze the competition... For example i have this keyword wich have 14k research/month, and i checked de concurrence in market samurai, here's the result:
(damn i'm not allowed to post images)

So my first competitor has a pr4, then 2 pr3, 2 pr2, 1 pr1 and the other are pr0... So i guess it would be hard to take the first place but possible to reach one of the first 5?

What is important to look to analyze de competition?

...at some point you have to leave the research and start doing things. It has been said many times before but you can really only get experience by doing, and sometimes that means to make mistakes, miscalculations or just be dumb. No one can make your mistakes for you, and most of us learned from mistakes more than from anything else. Even when you do fail, you learn many lessons, some you cant even put a finger on it, its called experience...
