my bro is quite a prolific reader and one of the books he was quoting (the grammar of motives, iirc) said something like,

the word 'educate' is based on some latin word which essentially means 'to bring out', so it's not a cramming of facts and knowledge into the brain but the bringing out of what's already there

    food for thought

    The Forever War (Joe Haldeman)

I haven't read it yet but I'm about to start the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, I hear nothing but praise for it.

These are also on my list of books to read:

-4 Hour Work Week (Timothy Ferriss)
    -Dune (Frank Herbert)

@OP: What genre do you typically enjoy reading? Fiction or non-fiction? What do you want to be reading about? ;-)

Isn't there a good suggestion engine for this sort've thing too? Good Reads or something?

You should try Shogun, The Man Who Would Be King, and A song of Ice and Fire, and if you like science fiction, Flow My Tears the Policeman Said and The Alien Way.

Sometimes, you get to visit a wonderful place when reading.

I have done about 3/4 of the book and it's amazing! I would love to see this story transformed in a movie!
