I thought you guys would be best to answer this. I'm thinking about trying out banner advertising, however I want to test and track different banner designs and websites to advertise on. Is there any service or tool that tracks clicks, and possibly even ties together with Google analytics? Doesn't matter if it is server side or not I'd just like to begin tracking CTR, EPC, etc.

To reiterate I'm looking for something somewhat like Propser202 but not as technical, and easier to setup and manage.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry guys, one more selfless bump hoping to figure something out.

Sorry, very last bump!

I've looked high and low and can't seem to find a good solution. I don't want to throw money away on wasted banner ads that aren't converting and aren't bringing in a good CTR.

Thanks everyone

You ever find an answer to this? I'm in the same boat and havn't found anything helpful yet.

5 more bumbs and you will hit the answer!

theLinkGuy,

It would seem that any reputable advertiser would provide you with metrics as basic as CTR. If you could at least get the number of impressions from the advertiser you could determine CTR by tagging the link with Google Analytics URL builder. Simply put in the campaign name, source and some other info to be able to identify the referall in reports and then compute your CTR based on the number of impressions you get from the advertisers website.

Hopefully that points you in the right direction,

How do you track banner impressions? I found a site I want to work directly with and I want to test out say 5 different banners I made. Where do those banners get hosted? Does the website I'm working with upload them to his server or do I upload them on my own domain, either way whats the best way to see how many impressions it gets?

You can use the unique tracking code for each banner ad separately. In this case you'll be able to track not only clicks, but even unique visitors, goals achievements and so on in your Google Analytics account.
For example your website has the next URL: http://www.yourwebsite.com
So for the banner ad #1 your URL will looks like: http://www.yourwebsite.com?banner1
for the banner ad #2: http://www.yourwebsite.com?banner2 and so on.
And then in your Custom Reporting (Google Analytics) you can make a filter with tracking code "banner1" and see your results

To use analytics don't you have to be a verified owner of the website? In my case I want to put a banner on a site that I do not own, and that banner links to a CPA offer landing page, also which I don't own.

The only thing I own in the banner image, wheres it get hosted and how do I track it?
