So my idea is to basically build a computer and sell it on eBay.
I'm going to prep it first though.
I'm going to do an OEM build of Windows 10 Pro and maybe run through a lot of the windows updates. Then put it in oobe mode so when the customer boots it up, it'll be like a fresh install.
Maybe I'll put some antivirus and perhaps install some security extensions for the browsers.
Right now I don't have any money at all. So in my listing I'm basically doing a BTO mode. Like they place the order, then I get the parts, assemble them, install everything...etc.
I've got one listed on eBay. My main issue is, I don't know how well this will work. It's hard to make it profitable because all the parts are so expensive already. I figure since I'm the one creating the build, picking out all the parts, and prepping the system, those several hours of work should justify the markup.
I think that, in the end, it's really more a matter of sourcing computer parts.
The challenge with that is, I want to establish a reliable source. Also I'm not able to put any money up front. So random used parts won't work, because I don't know when/if I'm going to get an eBay order.
This limits me to looking at retail outlets for parts right now. :\
On the other hand, being a web developer, I was able to put together a fairly nice looking listing. Some of it is just borrowed from other eBay listings, while parts of it are done by me.
A lot of those eBay sellers have great computers for sale, but horrible HTML. Like 5 or 6 different opening <font> tags with nothing in them. Definitely been using the built in editor. That thing sucks.
Anyway I hope I can use this method to make some extra money.
