Going sleepless to work, good or bad?

Do you ever skip a night of sleep to work. Is it good or because of fatigue it is not productive and pointless??

I experimented with several sleep patterns early on doing IM

Da Vinci thing, sleeping 3, working 3, doing naps, and so on.

Best strategy is 8 good solid hours sleep, nothing else works. You'll spend 1/3 of your life asleep that's the only way.

A good restful 5 to 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep is as essential as having healthy nutritious food. Sleep depreciation tends to reduce productivity, deteriorated health and ages you faster. Try your best not to skip timely sleeping pattern.

I extended 3 hours sleep at night for almost 3 years, i can tell you i wasn't the same person during that time. it was also due to a lot of stress at work, but id say go for minimum 5 hours sleep, for being productive.

Interesting. I don't see how sleeping just 3 hours everyday is even possibile. What were you like?

It was during the first years of my 2 older kids, how i was like? tired and angry most of the time, having symptoms of chronic short of breath i have, way more often during that time. in general, you feel kinda sick at all times.

Although that's not a good work ethic if it continues for too long.

However, I think its very healthy if this happens once in a while. As if you have a desire to finish up some work and need to stay awake the whole night then its good.

It's bad ! U should get some sleep

I highly recommend you to read this book [why we sleep by Matthew Walker]
you will find all the answers in this book

Shoutout to the people who comment on this vent, yesterday i decided to go sleep very soon , took some melatonine and just had 8h of sleep.
Also random tip: try not to use alarm clocks, everytime they provoke stress to your body, wake up naturally

I am particularly passionate about this topic.
Same like everyone else, we tend to just work and work non-stop and forgot to eat or even drink water or sleep.
What I can say based on my experience of doing this for 4 years PC - sleep - wake up - eat once a day - shower - PC - repeat -- will be good for the short term.
Maintaining healthy lifestyle can be pain in the ass for us, yes you and me, we picked our poison and avoid the 9-5 ones.
The first 90 days of doing this, your body and mind will get a bit numb, feeling uneasy, and just so stressed.
But as time goes by and if you keep persistent, 90 days will be enough to make it a habit and you'll be fine.

Thus your body can only take so much although you tried hard to keep awake, you'll fall asleep automatically.
Don't worry about it, as long as what you're doing makes you proud and will put food on the table for family or beloved ones, I don't see problem with it.
