Going homeless, need advice

Another update for the people who cared enough to respond to this thread when I needed it:

Things seem to be doing a lot better these days. I can confidently say that I do not have to worry about losing my home, or my pets. I was able to get my car fixed as well, thanks to the help of some friends. I'm still struggling to find a job, but I'm trying the best I can

A few people on this thread have hired me for working on their Twitters, so I'm open to doing that as well

My advice is this: Whatever you do next, keep/get your head on straight. Whichever applies to you. You need to get a job and a place asap. Follow these thing in order, and they are almost certain to work:

1. If you cannot find work, go to day labor. If you have any limitations, they will help you find something you can do. Go 3-4 days in a row, or as close together as there is work available. Make a gym bag, if you don't already have one. You need to keep this with you at all times, and you need everything to keep you from getting super smelly and/or having your teeth rot. Shampoo, shaving utensils, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash. Just buy the cheapest products at Walmart. Probably Equate, Suave, etc. And if you know how to cut your own hair, great! Do it, but if not, find a cheap barber nearby, and get your hair groomed when you need to. You are also going to need undergarments/socks, as well as 3-4 dressy/business outfits and an outfit for sleeping/working out in, wrinkle-free if you can to fit in your gym bag. Don't go to JcPenney or Sears. Go to Ross or Burlington or whatever outlet stores are near you. You will get high quality with a lower price tag, and you need a cheap deal right now. If you have electronic devices that fit, put them in the bag too, but away from the chemicals that could spill, if possible, and always check your caps.

2. Find a gym/fitness center that costs like $10/month. The lowest level membership should be sufficient. Make sure it is close to where you are looking for a job. Planet Fitness is great out here, but I don't know if there are any where you are or not, but find one or something similar if you can. Pay in full a year's membership ($100-$120, depending on current promotions). This is now your place to shower and brush your teeth and style your hair and all that good stuff. Keep yourself up.

3. Locate a Laundromat if you don't have anyone who can let you launder your clothes nearby. Visit as needed.


4. Apply to as many nearby jobs as you can, and FOLLOW UP, daily if needed. Always be at your best on your follow-ups, and whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!


It will be rough, but you can do it. I promise.

And it's cool that goes far beyond a blog, but people who have good heart and help the next!
I am also going through a similar situation with a friend, cmarv.
I'm 20, and I will lose my income when turning 21 (Nov / 2015)
Will I lose my income that always won since I was 9 years (it was when my father died ~ military government income support)
And for a long time been relaxed, the good life .. we last 12 months is falling the obvious to me: not invest when I had the opportunity, now is in the final stretch


At the moment I have a blog for people who want to make money on the internet, youtube channel, and I'm always provomendo my affiliate link in posts and videos (already got 2 sales in the last 30 days)
And for now I'm continuing the project, hope that yields good results




Well, to be honest lack me 7 months to lose income, and I'm thinking of investing money in the past:


> Buy SEO packages to create authority in my niche
> Advertising on YouTube Ads
> Google Adsense
> Facebook Ads


If case, everything goes wrong, I want to sell services as a freelancer! (I am a good web design, progamador, graphic design)


And also work as a freelancer out there .. I can generate good money because the dollar in Brazil be more valuable 3X the local money.


What do you think of my strategy?

Mate, you are from the US and living a very rich state. You can easily get a "low end" job which would have enough pay to make you live, rent, pay bills and internet.

No, "low paying jobs don't pay enough for a person to make, at least not in the vast majority of states. By this I mean havibg having the things you mentioned. Federal minimum wage here is $7.25. Ir you don't have a college degree most you can hope for is $10 if your state pays that much for minimum wage, and if so say hello to inflated living costs.
It might happen over in Oz but not here. It's a common myth that needs to be corrected.

If I was you I would start by working as a freelancer. And make a stable income. Then when you're ok financially you can start thinking in how you can invest your money. When you invest, you're taking a risk. A risk that you shouldn't take when you've financial problems.

Sometimes I wonder if the people who say things such as the above even live in the US.

Sorry no, I haven't lived in the US but it's my impression of the country. First world country, land of the rich. I plan one day to visit and live there.

There are only a few people in America that are rich, the rest aren't doing so well. All the tv shows and movies showing how everything is great in America is total bullshit.

Haha, land of the rich. That's hilarious. It's the Land of the people who constantly raise minimum wage because that fixes all problems evar! (/sarcasm)

The only way to make a decent living is to go into business for yourself and eschew all the crap that the people keep throwing at you. Accept that things suck and resolve to make them better. Too many Americans are lazy because of all our shitty subsidized everything and all it's doing is making our "First world country" into a country full of sheeple who can't care for themselves and don't know what to do when a crisis hits.

That last bit was not directed at OP, but very heavily generalized.

Oh come on. There are not two classes in the US-rich and not doing so well. If you're not doing well, then I'm sorry for you. But don't lump everyone into what you're living. I'm not rich and I'm not poor. I'm middle class and doing fine.

One cannot live a comfortable life here on minimum wage. But there are lots of opportunities to prosper if a person works hard to better their life. I just did my daughter's taxes last night and didn't realize she made that much. She got a new job last year and is doing well. But she goes after what she wants and doesn't stop until she gets it. Some people spend the day whining, and some people go after what they want, and do what it takes to get there. One thing I say is that divorce was the worse thing that happened to me, and the best thing that happened to me. Before the divorce, I showered my kids with things. They wanted for nothing and money was no object. I went from upper class to middle class after the divorce. But it taught the kids determination, which is what is really necessary to make it in the US.

Necessary in all walks of life.

Even middle class has a ton of expenses and alot of taxes they have to pay. America is not the land of opportunity in the 21st century. Developing nations with low taxes and cost of living along with quality internet are the best places.

Reason #9,148,302,925 to protect your assets prior to marriage, or just don't get married. I'm glad you weren't wiped out as most men are. Anyways, OP if you're reading this. I would suggest you do heavy manual labor. You'll have to work your ass off but at least you'll get paid more money than you would working some shitty retail job. Also, do you have a college degree?
