Godaddy Supporting SOPA

According to FORBES.com and many others, Godaddy is supporting SOPA. We has more than 300 domain names under Godaddy. We will move all Domain names + services from Godaddy to Namecheap.

If you are against SOPA (Which you SHOULD BE) remove all domain names from Godaddy.


Why I choose Namecheap.com?

Well, I have an account with Namecheap and never had a problem with them, their customer service has been top notch (well at least with me), the design is cleaner, if you want to buy domain names you will not have to push the button "No thanks" thousands of times before checking out your domain names like Godaddy. And another reason? well they are supporting the freedom of internet:

Name.com
Moniker.com
Namecheap.com

and you can mention many more!

To clarify, GoDaddy "withdrew" their support of SOPA a long time ago. However, they probably do still secretly support SOPA and I'd also recommend transferring away from GoDaddy.

By the way if you are transferring to NameCheap you can try the "SWITCH2NC" coupon if it still works.

Godaddy is simply one of the worst companies in the world. Not only did their CEO Bob Parsons come out in favour of waterboarding, he also shoots elephants and brags about it. Their hidden cross-sells are similar to the methods of the scummiest parts of the porn industry. They steal domains from sites they don't approve of and now they support SOPA. Yet, by some stroke of luck, they are hugely successful. I just hope that somebody will burn down their HQ and shoot their CEO (just kidding feds)

I actually have a domain parked at the GoDaddy site, and am pretty glad I haven't touched the thing in about six months.
 
Anyone who patronizes GD knowing what a bunch of scamming, thieving scumbags they are deserves a bullet in the head. That's not even mentioning the whole elephant shooting thing. Fuck those Godaddy thieves.
 
Godaddy still supports it. They only publicly announced they no longer do because they lost 75,000 domains in just a few days because of it. They were even calling people that have only 50-60 domains asking them why they were moving.

I moved the rest of mine from them. I decided a couple of years ago to do it, but still had some lingering on godaddy. I no longer do.

You can bet your life that Parsons still fully supports it for some odd reason. I guess he figured he could snatch up a few more top level domains from people when they violated it or something. God knows.
 
Godaddy will never not support SOPA...I'm an elephant lover and actually help in an elephant sanctuary in Kenya. When I found out that Godaddy's CEO does this I mobilised a few guys and got out of it.

The company is just bad bad...Worse in terms of cross selling, bad customer support and they even took 2 of my domains in my early IM days. They are just bad.
 
I have no knowledge about this... I'm just starting out at IM and was actually planning on buying domains in GoDaddy. Any good alternatives? (cheap ones)
 
If the Elephant shootings didn't get you, maybe SOPA will? nah probably not.

In the main thread I have listed some good ones. My favorite Namecheap.

Agreed. I have only registered one domain with them and with that domain I had many issues <_<
 
bhw should ban the promotion of godaddy, no threads about domain specials or nothing
 
I always used Namecheap, they cheaper and the panels are more comfortable and easy to control, they also give you free whois guard for the first year. :)

I didn't know what you were talking about the elephant shooting thing, so I had to google it.

In the beginning of the bob parson's "kill the elephant" video, they tried to set it up as though they were doing local villagers a service. They showed a few broken corn stalks and said that it makes the villagers life hard when they lose some crops.

The answer? Bob Parsons shoots the elephant, the villager's hero. Never occurs to Bob to just give the villagers a few bucks so they have some food, without killing the elephant.

What a douche bag.
