Not sure if this has already been announce here but GoDaddy is on the list of companies that support SOPA.

I urge you, if you can, to move any GoDaddy products you may have to another domain registrar and/or hosting provider.

Reddit users are proposing that December 29 be named "Move Your Domain Away From GoDaddy Day" There are many domain registrars offering discounts right now for domain transfers away from GoDaddy.

I'll be moving them soon, but I dont think I will be able to, until mid January.

I wonder how fucked up go daddy can become ...

I read this on Reddit also.

I always hated GoDaddy.. but yes move your domains/hosting out!

Must be nice to have enough money to lobby the government to get laws created for you.

I like the political correctness of the above. I 'd rephrase it like this:

"Must be nice to have enough money to buy the laws you want". That reflects better on reality.

If a website is property and it is confiscated without due process isn't that against the constitution? Its been a while since social studies class so idk.

damn i have to be very fast before my domains get looked up
oh by the way go daddy sucks :p

Any article about this SOPA? is just USA related or also Europe?

Time to tweet and write about this in blog. Spread the word. Let them lose customers this holiday, that will put some sense into their brains.

Namecheap have declared their stance, and they are not in favour of it. Unfortunately I can't post a link yet, but Google "namecheap sopa" and you'll see their post.

I completely agree. We need to spread the word. SOPA will have a direct impact on anyone who makes money online.

I only have 4 domains on GD but I'm definitely switching all of them over to namecheap on the 29th. I saw that reddit post and came here to make a thread about it, but I guess you beat me to it.

I think I speak for everyone when I say
Fuck GoDaddy and Fuck SOPA/PIPA

I beleive that if this bil goes into law, Godaddy would be on the receiving end of the domains seized by the US govt (can't remember where I read about it).

Which is one of the reasons why they support it. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some back door deals that went down to put themselves in position to be the "go to" domain register for "confiscated" domains. Which, if it does happen, would likely increase thier "traffic" overnight if they get a hold of some big websites www address.

So I think their "support" is more or less them trying to set themselves up for a traffic windfall.

But yeah, everyone should move their domains, and, if you can, your hosting as well. HG is better anyways!
