i just used it (tried it) and it only gives you $2 off - not 50%

GD's pricing structures and discounts are so byzantine it's hard to tell WTF is going on sometimes, but I can tell you that:
a - I just got nearly 50% off a handful of renewals (let's use the hypothetical numbers the original cost was going to be $100USD and I paid $54USD after applying the source code), and
b - discounted renewals are rare - in general - so if you already have names with GD, check what sort of discounts you get with this code

Yeah pretty sure their shopping cart is on the wacky weed. Sometimes it works to your advantage, sometimes not...though of course ultimately they get some of your filthy lucre. But still, keeping an eye out for "interesting" opportunities can be worth it.
In this case, the percentage off people are getting is all over the place...but hey, a discount is a discount, especially for name renewals.
