    Hi all,

I am in the process of buying some domains and hosting. I was looking at namecheap, but not sure if they really are a better option than godaddy? I would like hosting for unlimited websites.

Godaddy offers Windows and Linux (when you want to use Python, PHP or etc. scripting) plans. I do not see that at namecheap...

I am unsure now what to choose. Does this mean when I choose a godaddy Windows based plan it would not be possible to use any PHP etc. scripts with it at godaddy?

Why I can't see others separating btwn these options?

What do you recommend to use? I am new to this and need some help to make a decision.

Thank you for your input! :)

With windows hosting(Whether Namecheap or GoDaddy) you can run both PHP and .NET but htaccess doesn't work in windows so "SEO URLs" of Wordpress or any other CMS won't work(you can use web.config though). Linux lets you run PHP and .htaccess but no .NET(generally).
If you're planning to run PHP Scripts like Wordpress then go for Linux.

Why I can't see that differing btwn Linux and Windows based at Dreamhost, Namecheap and Hostwinds? Or is this just a godaddy specific thing? I want to do WP based and should go for Linux based as I just learned.

No, it's not a GoDaddy specific thing, it's same in all companies.

I see. Though when opting for a special offer for WP it would be Linux based. OK.

I'd suggest getting a VPS at a better place than GoDaddy due to the fact they are known for crummy hosting package upsells.

Hostamus, HostWinds & BlueHost / DreamHost would perform much better. For starting off stick with one of the first 2 options.

If you are wanting to run wordpress then your best option would be with Linux.

If you are going for the wordpress sites then its better you go for wordpress managed hosting, which is offered by many hosting company like hostgator, bluehost etc.

Most of the clients prefer's linux hosting as it comes with the cpanel...cpanel is nothing but the control panel which allows to handled the things more easily than other control panels. We can easily create email accounts, can set forwarders, add domains, parked domains, subdomains, can check stats with the help of cpanel. Also every linux hosting provider has its own monitoring systems from they are maintaining the performance of their server and it has been found that 70% of people are choosing linux hosting service.

There are multiple best hosting providers and few are as below :

    godaddy (dot) com
    namedeal (dot) com
    prewebhost (dot) com
    dollar1hosts (dot) com
    dazzlinghost (dot) com
    arvixe (dot) com

    Thanks
