GoDaddy is Busted

From a blog:

"I happened to be on Go Daddy's site recently for something work-related, and while I was there, I quickly checked if a domain name that had just occurred to me was available for my side project. It was. Cool, I thought.

Then, three days later, I remembered the domain name and went into my Web host's (not Go Daddy) control panel to register it. I got this message:

Error: xxxxxxxxx.com is already registered and is not available.

Oh, really, you assholes? A quick Whois search turned up this:

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, LLC (www. godaddy. com)

When I searched again for the domain name on Go Daddy, the site suggested I buy it through their "Domain buying service" and pay the associated charges. But I refuse to purchase the domain on principle. Go Daddy can go die."

Never had a problem with them myself. Maybe someone had actually bought the domain in that 3 day period and had the GoDaddy privacy?
 
I avoid GoDaddy really. Anything good their going to buy up.

Never check through them for a domain name, use domainit instead. I always suspected godaddy did this type of thing.
 
its been proven time and time again with them. i have actually heard stories that people have bought domains on godaddy and then gd cancelled the purchase and kept the domain for themselves to resell for more money.
 
First SOPA, now this. I've never used Go Daddy and never will, and anyone who asks me, I'll recommend that they do the same!

NameCheap is the best.
 
It happened to me also, but in a 12 hour period. I suspected then that they have something running aside. Now I am convinced. Thing is I have most of my things bought with them. Gonna move out soon.
 
Didn't godaddy got busted doing this years ago (when owned by the previous owner)?
 
I have already had similar experience with godaddy in past

Never search domain for names availability on godaddy.
 
Happened to me too. I am going to pull the plug after seeing this thread. Greedy bastards!
 
This is because of their ability for unlimited 'domain tasting' as a registrar. If they stop getting search queries for that domain within a few days, they'll just drop it, and it will be available again. Not new, but not too common on their part either.
 
I can confirm they really do this. Happened with 4 domains already!
