Do I actually have to pay extra for @domain accounts ontop of my domain?

yes godaddy is is email hosting provide with extra charges if u take 12 month email hosting so monthly $1.29 ...

I think that their promotions change from time to time, but it appears that they'll give you one e-mail address for free. According to the *Free Extras* tab under *Domains*:
