We host with several firms, not just Godaddy. You don't just up and move several hundred sites one day. Any service can be attacked like this. Thanks for the gracious well thought out post though.

sorry if I dont make millions like you. I use godaddy because of their promos because I got some cheap domains. I also dont approve killing elephants if that matters.
but do I deserve my money making sites getting down? no, i dont think so.

And yeah, I don't host with GoDaddy, heard they were a good registrar but a terrible host.

I didn't make the decision to host with GoDaddy, you made that choice. A whole bunch of registrars and hosts are better and cheaper and dont support terrible laws designed to shut down the rest of the worlds internet as we know it.
So yeah, for you as an individual and other site owners, I do feel bad for you, all I can say is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider your wallet, and your conscience, and use this as an excuse to get a better deal from a superior company.

yep, that should be right.. I think registrars sync their regged domains with all root servers, so only regged domains and hosted elsewhere should be always fine. Someone correct me if i am wrong on this..

Agree.
haha, i shouldn't be laughing as this effects me badly as well but i was freaking out my sites had been taking down for something and then find its a big attack. Hope it all comes back up with no loss and good lesson to learn early on about taking backups. Better now than in 12months when i've expanded a bit.

How long do these things usually go on for or is it just dependable on how quickly godaddy pull their finger out or when annonymous decide to leave them alone?,
