Hey boys and girls,

I was just wondering if anyone has a coupon code for domain renewals on GoDaddy? I just purchased some expired domains and when I went to renew them (as they expire again soon), they want $24 for .com and $29 for .org?! What the? What an absolute joke.

I've tried some coupon codes but none of them apply to renewal of domains specifically.

Thanks in advance

That's not that bad of a deal lol. That lasts a year right? It's cheaper than hosting.

Go with Namecheap next time, or transfer them to namecheap right now, and renew for cheaper.

Try honey chrome extension.
Maybe you can get a working coupon.
Works for me most of the time.

Bruh, renewing a domain should cost a maximum of $10. I've already paid for them to get transferred to my godaddy account, I'm not paying $24 and $29 for the actual expired domain if that makes sense, they cost $200+.

The renewal fee on namesilo and porkbun as I normally use is often $5 or $10 max.

I can't transfer them as they have a domain lock.

f**k godaddy, move to cloudflare they charge you about 8$ for renewal!

Lol GG then. GoDaddy can Go suck my Daddy dick.

I know, and I agree, but I can't transfer them as they have domain lock. I'd rather fist my own ass than register a domain on GoDaddy.

Couldn't agree more.

The lock can be turned off : https://in.godaddy.com/help/unlock-my-domain-for-transfer-410

Transfer it to namesilo or epik : https://epik.com/blog/transferring-domains-from-godaddy-into-epik-registrar.html
I love you.

I thought it was the 60 day ICANN domain lock, but no, it was GoDaddys own retarded domain lock.

Transferring all the domains out of there as we speak, GoDaddy is a real sneaky piece of shit.

@FBGuru - Guess what? I can't transfer the domain as I get "bad auth code", even though I triple checked the code and it's 100% correct. I now remember going through this exact thing 2 years ago and lost a money site domain just for this reason - Godaddy wouldn't let me transfer it out due to "bad auth code" even though it's the right one.

What the fuck is wrong with GoDaddy? The dirty tactics they play is just baffling.

Have you ever successfully transferred a domain out from GoDaddy yourself?

I transferred numerous domains from them before I came to know about Namecheap. Never touched them though in the last 4 yrs. Try contacting their support and see if they can help you with the transfer.

I did make a new transfer request and we'll see if it works this time (doubt it). I'll try and get in contact with GoDaddy and see what they say. Thanks.

Good luck man. They are easy when you buy from them but difficult when you want to go away from them. Great marketing for joe blog, but not for advanced IMO

They really make everything incredible difficult and the way they conduct themselves is just insane, I can't believe they're still in business. First they want $24 for a .com domain (without even including WHOIS protection which is another $10, leaving you with a $34 bill for something that should cost $5-$10 on other registrars), and on top of that they lock domains with their own "locking" crap, and on top of THAT they don't have any support chat or email.. wtf? And on top of that, the auth code to actually transfer the domain out never even works.

Oh, and if you search for a domain on their site enough times, they'll "register" it and mark it up even more as a 'premium domain'. What an absolute joke of a registrar.

Did I forgot to mention the fact that PorkBun has a dedicated page on how to expedite the transfer for GoDaddy specifically, since they like to hold the domains as long as possible, unlike other legit registrars?

@chameleon domains - This is what I mean. :p

Hello! From my experience, their 90-days lock is removable, you will just need to wait until they have available chat (they don't have fixed hours, so you will need to catch them), but eventually it works.
Sorry for this issue

Yeah I have removed the lock and started the transfer process, however twice in a row now I've gotten "bad auth code" on the new registrar, even though it's 100% correct. I have a strong feeling GoDaddy does this on purpose and they should be banned from ICANN. Never had this issue with other registrars.

Ahh okay that makes sense, I'll try and catch the chat.

EDIT: Of course the chat's only open on weekdays hahaha. Well, no choice but to renew it on GoDaddy as it will expire before the weekend is up.

No problem man, not your fault. :)

Yep, seems like GoDaddy sends incorrect auth codes on purpose as I'm not the only one with this issue.

https://godaddy.com/community/Domain-Transfers/Authorization-code-for-transfer-is-invalid/m-p/126298

"No, it looks systematic. GD lost its positions as number one registrar. I tried transferring out one of the domain names, just a few days before expiration. Bad auth code. telephone support keeps saying it';s valid, accepting registrar - 'wrong'. Pretty certain, bad codes are being sent for purpose."

Will submit a complaint to ICANN, even though I doubt they'll do anything about it.
