godaddy and hostgator are not good service providers |

go for whois or namecheap - they have very cheap prices on domains and hosting plans, and never had problems with them

Exactly what I was saying. OP mentioned non-payment of fees and every provider keeps sending mails till the domain is deleted after expiration.

I have a client who has hosted their site on GoDaddy (their choice, not mine) for around 6 years. During those 6 years, her site was:

Hacked

Hosting malware due to being hacked

Linked to porn websites

Linked to gambling websites

Linked to spam websites

Used as a link farm

Used to send e-mail spam.

But after all of this, their site was never deleted, so it strikes me as odd that they would just shut it down without much notice.

Yeah what im saying does sound kind of extreme, but that's how it was, i was supposed to pay about 1-2weeks ago, i didnt see the emails because i have a ton of email accounts but yeah thats my fault.

The real problem is that it was shut down on the 23rd and when i contacted them yesterday they said it was deleted and that i needed to pay a 150 fee, so basically what they should of done was stopped the hosting when they couldnt withdraw the money instead of hosting the website for another week or two deleting it and then people left without a choice...

And i was on a deluxe hosting plan something like 8$ a month

i don't think that is even possible, they will warn you about your niche, but deleting your site?
you had some illegal stuff going on then...

Well i ended up paying 190$ in fees to get it restored and im still waiting.

What you should do in the future is keep a weekly backup of your website and perhaps use a second e-mail address for "very important" mail.

Oh, and as you just leant, avoid GoDaddy.

I recommend installing with every site the backwpup plugin(free) and making a backup another routine task once you get your site up. This plugin is nice because it sends a backup straight to your Dropbox account, which you can also get for free.

Never had any issues with HostGator, would recommend them based on my experience but wouldn't count on them for backups....

I've had GoDaddy before when I had my first niche sites, customer support was terrible. I left them, support and price just didn't meet the standards for me.
