godaddy borrows domains for free traffic

godaddy will take any domain thats not activly in use and park it with one of their landing pages... so your domain that should be empty and waiting for your next project is sitting thier with a huge godaddy landing page ad for their benefit of which you get ZERO and google etc will see the page as being used ... makes it harder to actualy use it later....

a domain i recently started using was directly sandboxed and took 6 weeks before it got even one visitor from google...

all the domains i had reged but not used had the landing pages

im going to move all my domains to another registrar probably namecheap

if you use godaddy and have domains projects you havent started yet get a basic wp install on them at a minimum to keep godaddy from borrowing them for free... hell you paid the reg fees dont let them profit for free

All registrars has their own parking page...

godaddy is a shitty company but the situation you describe is for every company... they will not change your DNS and point them to their own name servers... If you leave the domain NS to godaddy then they show you their parking page....

Godaddy is horrible for many reasons, but not because of this.

They only do this for domains that aren't being used, if you have it pointing somewhere this will not happen.

btw EVERY host is going to do this. Essentially instead of having a 404 page (error for not found/doesn't exist page) they use this park/lander page. Depending on your host its either gonna redirect domains you have not yet setup to their custom parking page or to their 404 page. Take 3 seconds and point your domain to a site and this will not happen.

This is not what the shit list section is for. If you don't like a registrar don't use them.
