godaddy auctions are a pure scam

A couple of days I won an auction for a domain. I was expecting the domain to appear on my control panel , after 2 days, I just phoned them. The owner has renewed the domain on namecheap. Indeed , godaddy is auctioning something that they don´t own. They speculate with the fact that the previous owner won´t renew the domain and selling it to the best bet on the auction.

They say the will give me my money back, anyway , I paid 6 bucks to get access to their scammy auction system for a year.

I told the man who answered the phone if I could put on auction my neighbor house , even If I am not the owner. We both start laughing .

If I ever felt bad because of doing blackhat online, now my mind is totally free of that.

Godaddy´s business is pure blackhat. One of the biggest companies online

will they make a refund?
 
Yes they are the worst but they will refund you in the end. Just move on and find another domain. Most of times the domains are available and ready to push.

I got so many auction domains canceled by them every now and then. Been there, done that.
 
I have 3 domains with godaddy, and I'm scared to transfer them out, incase they screw something up! :D
Would never buy anything from them again.

I was also affected by the GoDaddy auction, I bought a domain from their auction but after several days it didn't appear on my dashboard so I asked about that. They responded it is not available for some reason so I insisted to refund my money around $200, I got my money instantly but the real catch is you can't get your money on your bank account but instead added to Godaddy balance. You can't withdraw that balance to your bank account.

They forced me to use those funds on their services, this is totally unacceptable but without other options, I moved on.

tldr: Its not scam, its how domain auctions work.

GoDaddy and .... wait for it .... EVERYONE ELSE is auctioning the domains in grace period when the owner can still renew them. The only way to guarantee you that the domain wont be renewed is to either use Dropcatch for dropped domains or to deal with owners directly (although if you rage about minor inconvenience that is renewed domain, you are up for a nasty surprises dealing with the owners directly).
While I understand your frustration (been there dozens of times), its just how domain auctions work. There are several dozens smaller registrars that sells their domains via GoDaddy auctions. There are HUNDREDS of smaller registrars that are part of Dropcatch.
 
One thing GoDaddy also do - they'll snap up domains for themselves if lots of people look for the same available domain URL.
 
I don't think Godaddy Auctions is a scam, and I don't even like Godaddy. It's just that you didn't know how domain auctions work.

These are expiring domains, not expired, so the owner can renew them before they drop. Everyone long enough in the domain auctions game know that.

Godaddy will eventually return you the money, it will just take some time.
 
I have also heard many bad stories about godaddy auctions. Both from buyer's as well as seller's point of view.
It is better to stay away from them as much as possible.
