Godaddy auctioning my domain without consent

Hi all,

Just looking at domains today and we saw our website (which is our main business) was on auction at Godaddy. Its still registered until October this year and we would not have put it up for auction at any point.

I called support who seemed confused and said to email their auctions team which says response within 72 hours. The auction has 3 days to go so I'm assuming it will be resolved in that time but wondering if that had happened to anyone before? How to stop it? and if someone did buy it (there is one active bid) what would happen?

I think its depend on you if you want to accept bid or not. But didnt know that, those bast*rds started selling domains with owners permission.
 
Is your site being used? I mean, do you have content on it? There is no way your URL is being auctioned with content on site.
 
Yea its our main business site full of content updated daily.

Was very surprised and have no intention of selling it. Pure fluke that I happened to be looking to see if other tlds were available.

The guy on the phone was very confused and put me on hold a few times then told me to email a team.
I assume its not something that happens too often :)

Did you get the domain back?
 
Some scammer might have listed it on Godaddy.

Years back, I was cheated of 1k by a scammer on Godaddy. Pagerank domains was hot at that time. So, I wanted to acquire one with high page rank. Once I paid, the pagerank vanished within a week. Godaddy, didnt help either. I lost out on my money.

I guess, you have nothing to lose over here but some third party could get scammed.
 
I guess you could even sue them for damaging your brand's reputation and for attempting to trade with a propery of yours/using its name without your explicit permission.
 
Strange, Lot of complaints against godaddy now a days, unfortunately i have few domains with them, i guess its time to transfer domains.
 
personally, I think it is good for your business. if the bid is high than its worth, then it means you are doing good with your site :)
 
Transfer out your domain to some legit people like name.com ,godaddy is full of shit
 
Scammer most likely. Ring GoDaddy and cause a storm They'll definitely want to handle you then!

Your domain under ICANN is YOUR domain. Contact them too.
