So I'm working on a new technique and campaign. Basically I'm trying to shore up some important relationships at a brand new network that I may need in a few months.
I build up a PPC campaign. Nothing huge. Easy pickings since I'm not actually trying to make any money on it. It's hard to explain why without a long ass post, but I think that the "look and feel" of your whitehat stuff protects you from the prying eyes into your blackhat stuff; not that I'm some guru or anything, but if you want to look legit, do some legit stuff on top of the not legit. Smoke and mirrors. It's all an illusion. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
I spend... I dunno maybe 4 hours putting this PPC campaign together. Only about 1000 keywords. Just enough to drive some traffic, but not enough to really make this one a winner or terribly expensive. I just need a few clicks and a few sales. break even is perfect. Profit is nice, but not the point. Losing a few bucks would be fine too cuz it won't be too much.
I get it all set up. The Googmobile is fired and up juuuuuuuuuuuust starts to run nice and smooth and BLAMO.
A fellow fucking blackhatter HAMMERS THE DOGSHIT out of the network and gets the offer pulled. Literally within 2 days of me pulling the trigger.

I hate you, but I love you anonymous compadre. You fucked us both. Now back to the drawing boards.
It could be worse. My AM tells me this cat was pulling down a solid $25k this month... or would have if he hadn't gotten fucking greedy. He walks away with a banned account and no doubt that empty, I'm going to throw up now, Jesus I hate learning things the hard, painful, put it in my butt with enthusiasm, sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that comes from mentally spending the money he must have seen rolling into that network stats page sort of a way. That coulda been me.
I only lost (literally) a few hours and $18.85 in click costs. He's trying to rub some kind of ointment into his brownround to get rid of the sting tonight.
Next time is my turn probably.
