So I'm working on a new technique and campaign. Basically I'm trying to shore up some important relationships at a brand new network that I may need in a few months.

I build up a PPC campaign. Nothing huge. Easy pickings since I'm not actually trying to make any money on it. It's hard to explain why without a long ass post, but I think that the "look and feel" of your whitehat stuff protects you from the prying eyes into your blackhat stuff; not that I'm some guru or anything, but if you want to look legit, do some legit stuff on top of the not legit. Smoke and mirrors. It's all an illusion. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I spend... I dunno maybe 4 hours putting this PPC campaign together. Only about 1000 keywords. Just enough to drive some traffic, but not enough to really make this one a winner or terribly expensive. I just need a few clicks and a few sales. break even is perfect. Profit is nice, but not the point. Losing a few bucks would be fine too cuz it won't be too much.

I get it all set up. The Googmobile is fired and up juuuuuuuuuuuust starts to run nice and smooth and BLAMO.

A fellow fucking blackhatter HAMMERS THE DOGSHIT out of the network and gets the offer pulled. Literally within 2 days of me pulling the trigger.

I hate you, but I love you anonymous compadre. You fucked us both. Now back to the drawing boards.

It could be worse. My AM tells me this cat was pulling down a solid $25k this month... or would have if he hadn't gotten fucking greedy. He walks away with a banned account and no doubt that empty, I'm going to throw up now, Jesus I hate learning things the hard, painful, put it in my butt with enthusiasm, sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that comes from mentally spending the money he must have seen rolling into that network stats page sort of a way. That coulda been me.

I only lost (literally) a few hours and $18.85 in click costs. He's trying to rub some kind of ointment into his brownround to get rid of the sting tonight.

Next time is my turn probably.

    Love this game. Love it.

This was great brother....Well, not for you I guess. Sorry.

However, I may have outdone you. Was you on Search?

I had my placement targetting going on a forum in France this past week.
(think I already spoke about this)...Some Ahole hammers the offer on Search bro,
totally fucks me right. Guess what? Takes a little over 3 hours for the big Googly
    to pause the fucking campaign....

At least previous days profit kept me even...then again all that research and
I ended up breaking even. What a bite in the ass.

Yeah, it's the research part that pisses me off. I didn't do much, but still 3-4 hours totally wasted. Well, not totally. I actually had a 7.7% CTR and about 6% conversions. Not too shabby for a throw together campaign. My ad pulled like a beast. I was really happy with it. Only ran the one, but... well hell it's the holiday season. I think I could have said, "Shit on a stick. Get it while its hot. www.shitonastick.com" and gotten some conversions, rofl.

Honestly though, I learned a lot about how to put certain kinds of product keyword lists together, but still. :)

Yeah, I was on search and so was the other fellow. Blew up the brand and trademarks and got the merchant all pissy. In fact, I aaaaaaaaalmost didn't do the campaign because I saw his ads and knew he was bidding the brand against the t's and c's, but hey, I just figured they'd slap him down. I didn't figure they'd shut the whole offer down. And I mean, killed it. No search, no web, no fucking email... no more offer. Period. Too funny.

Here, let me help you "optimize" that ad with a properly spelled display URL:

    There, that should work better.

Funny story, Scuba. Thanks for sharing. My god, I've yet to involved in an exploit that would make the advertiser withdraw the entire campaign. Damn, I guess I'm not trying hard enough.

Best of luck to you, and thanks again for the amusing story,
