"Go to first new post" link not working correctly

It seems like whenever I click on the "Go to first new post" arrow on a thread title I get taken to the last post in the thread. This happens even for threads that I haven't opened for weeks. Also, threads with many new posts since I opened them don't even show the 'first new post' arrow. From other forums, I am used to this link taking me to the first post made since I last read the thread. It seems like everything is being marked as read somehow? I've looked through the options multiple times, but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks for any help.

I tried it a few times in the past and it also never worked for me.

Thanks for letting me know it's not just me. I always find that a very useful feature on forums to find my place on active threads.
