I only have one domain registered with godaddy and never used them before. I am wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with their privacy?

Under what circumstances do they give up the info?

The main registrar I use 1and1 has a provision in the privacy policy that says if someone mails you a letter they will remail it to you and charge you $5.000

Someone actually wrote to me every other day for like 2 months and they seriously wanted me to pay for that. The only way I got out of it was to start releasing my domains for transfer and then we settled on a small amount.

Im looking to avoid any possibility of them Fooking me up. Also I can't even find the terms of their privacy policy anyone have a link to them?

dont do it -- I dont even have to explain why they are BH bstrds :) -- just trust me

dont do it? Godaddy sucks on many levels, but never had them give up any info

I definitely need privacy on this domain. Read my username backwards and you will get it. I am planning on blogging about people/companies that have pissed me off. Even considering buddypress to let other people get in on it.

Anyone know of a .bz registrar that isnt as slimey as godaddy and offers free/decent whois?

Onlymen.. LOVE THE ICON!
72 days until Fenway opens. 27 days until pitchers and catchers report. 39 days until first spring game.

why not use GApps for your emails using your domain??

I suggest you try... it's free anyway...

divinci define ppv debit?

Ya figures godaddy just about the $ 24/7 If I register it under false whois then I risk it being yanked right? Know of another .bz reistrar.

I only use name.com for my domains...they have FREE privacy they treat their customers well, and have a great fully featured control panel that is easy to use.

From my experience Godaddy and 1and1 are probably the worst domain name providers on the web.

So much for name.com..

Hello Redacted,

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately we do not currently
support the transfer IN of .BZ domains. However you are free to
register them through Name.com. Our registration price for .BZ
domains is $9.99 and our renewal price is $25.00. You can view all of
our pricing information at

Name.com offers Private Whois free of charge to all of our customers.
(Unless the registry does not allow for this feature on their
domains.) For any domains you transfer to us, you will be able to add
this feature without any fee.

If you have any further questions, please direct them to
Kind regards,
Courtney

I know there's a lot of chatter both pro and con about GD. But one of the things I like about using them for some things is that they are so big, I sometimes feel like we have "security through obscurity" with them.

They do engage in some "interesting" business practices, but who here on BHW doesn't?

From my experience, they won't give up your info unless you do something they feel is really over the line (and that usually means something like child porn, "teen modelling" which is some sort of sleazy code for underage sex shit, online pharmacy, selling other stupid shit online like guns or Nazi memorabilia) or unless a "big gun" comes to them (e.g. G00gle or the RIAA)

But generally they're actually pretty lenient - for example, their TOS says no "adult" sites, but if you're running a porn site (AS IN "NORMAL" PORN - be it lesbo, guy on guy, two consenting adults, etc. - just no animals or kids) they don't bat an eye.

I love the idea of a complaint forum, people love to bitch and rant and rave online anonymously. You should definitely open it up with buddypress or something similar, your traffic will be solid.

I know that GD is used by others for similar forums. As long as your forum isn't about GD, I think you'd be okay using them for your privacy. Just my thoughts.

What are the odds I do a buddypress build of a site meant to be a sounding board to tell people how you really feel and no one posts about Godaddy? You see the domain for it right?

I have the feeling there will be several companies peeved about having high search results for my site. By the way is it o.k. to drop f bomb on BHW?

Thank you for the input greg Ill make sure no one ever writes about you on my new site.

use a prepaid virtual credit card where you can load it with any name or address,,

then buy your domains with the virtual card and create fictitious names and addresses that lead to nowhere.
