My goal with this thread is to help, but also to see if anyone has any ideas they can add to this. It's a simple method, but it does help ALOT!

OVERVIEW

So another little bit of seasoning I do for local is GMB post stacking. Will this move the needle? Hell yes! Do 3-5 posts a week and monitor your GMB insights. Then skip a couple weeks and see what happens. You'll drop in impressions and clicks.

So it's safe to say that GMB posting does have an effect.

Last year I used Local Viking to schedule out posts. When scheduling out posts for a stack, Local Viking has an option to link to the previous post. I don't use the LV feature to link out to previous posts any longer and do it manually.

Why?

Well, for one it forces you to only stack the most recent posts. You can only link to the previous post. Or you can simply copy and paste the post you want to chain it too.

SO let's say last week I did a GMB post about "kitchen remodeling". But this week I've been posting about "bathroom remodeling". Then something comes up, a special, an event, etc etc that needs me to create another post about kitchen remodeling. Well I've already done 3 posts this week in a stack about "bathroom remodeling". So I won't be able to use LV. I need to manually insert the link either in the button of the GMB post or copy and paste it in the description.

So now I'll go through my exact process for organizing and posting. Obviously you can have a VA do this. I'm actually working with another member here to combine GPT3 + NLP and automate the content process, making it much easier for a VA and cutting down on expense. I'm even thinking once the process for organizing the content and images is figures out, could probably be automated with Browser Animation Studio. Anyhow, on to my process.

THE PROCESS

1. Come up with a keyword theme for the post stacks. Focus on a keyword you want to move the needle for.

2. Write the posts before hand. Need ideas for posts? Look for your focus keyword in a large city, find active businesses who are consistently posting, and rip their shit and rewrite it. Easy. When you search a keyword in maps, Google will highlight the posts using that keyword. You can also go to the "Ask a Question" section and type in your keyword. This will populate all reviews including the keyword. Giving you more ideas for post content.

3. Prepare all of your content in an excel doc. I like to prepare for an entire month, but with only needing 4-5 posts in a stack you can do this weekly. Or just do it day by day. It's all up to you.

4. For your first post you're going to do an event post. At least this is how I do it. I heard they pack more of a punch in the first GMB post when stacking than a standard post would. I've never tested this, just heard from some more knowledgeable than me.

5. I create my images in Canva. I usually create 20 and re use them. If you're using Local Viking, don't worry about Geotagging. You can do this in LV when you upload the photo/graphic. And LV is more robust in terms of the data you can edit. OR if you like more control you can use an exif software, or something like Lightroom. For me LV is enough. But if you're good with lightroom you can add exif data in batches. Probably something I need to implement, but I haven't as of yet. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE GEOTAGGING AND ADDING OPTIMIZED EXIF DATA. DOn't need to go to crazy with exif data, just optimize the things that stand out. Tags, keywords, description, etc etc. I don't worry about device, camera, resolution or any of that. I think this maybe something Google looks at in the future for reviews, but not posts.

6. Now go create the post. When linking you'll want to pick a relevant GMB post to link it to or the previous one if you're stacking back to back.

7. Now with the link you choose there's a few ways to do this. Your first post, the Event post will link out to the property you want to rank. Whether it's a web page, GMB, biz site, or whatever. Then in the post after, you'll link to the Event post. Every post after the event post is a Standard GMB post. Now there's a couple way to get a link. You could go to the post itself and just grab the share URL. I don't like these URLs because they're dynamic and change with every share button click after a screen refresh. So I run the link through a redirect detector and grab the destination URL. This is what I use to stack. It's my belief that use lose some of the equity when it's redirected. GMB post shares redirect 2-3x. I haven't split tested this either. Don't need to as I can see what I'm doing is working. Maybe someone else can chime in here and say whether it's over kill or not.

THAT'S IT!

BONUS

Combine this with my PR method I shared yesterday and watch the magic happen. You can embed a GMB post into a PR. You'll need to use the same keyword theme you used in the post stack in the PR stack.

There's a few ways you can do this and I have yet to gauge what gets better results. It's probably insignificant. SO just pick a method and roll.

1. Use every PR in the PR stack to link out to each post in the post stack. 1 PR to a unique post in the stack. So 1st PR links to 1st GMB post, 2nd PR links to 2nd GMB post and so on.
2. Complete the post stack and only embed the last GMB post in every PR in the PR stack.
3. Only embed the first event GMB post in every PR.

I use all 3 of these.

Let's discuss if you're doing post stacking and what you're doing. And if you're not, do it for a month with at least 3 posts a week and monitor your results :)

I have no idea how I just discovered this post Nd I have no idea why it doesn't have more engagement. This is very interesting and I should give it a try

This is something I am working on implementing now. I too use local Viking.

Back Ground:

I am on a state line and I am 1 in the map pack for 30 miles from my location in the state my business is in and buried in the other state. We are only 2 miles from the state line and see customers in both states. We are a home services business. I have tried using only service area and it does not work as well for us as having a physical location due to all our competitors using physical locations.

I am creating postings targeting keywords "AC Service and Inspection Bluffton" with Bluffton being the first zip code in the other state. I have four post with images set to repost every 8 days.

No sure if this will help but nothing else is getting us in the map pack in Bluffton at this point. We are number one just two miles away.

Do you have any samples or past works you done?

Nice dude! So you're just rehashing the same posts and having success? It's something I've wondered about. If I could just set Local Viking to repeat and get the same results. I do at least 20 posts a month for a client now a days.

Something else I'm playing with:

I'm wondering if post stacking the buttons vs stacking the way local viking makes you stack it, works better....

Everyone I've seen in the local realm is literally having their VAs do it manually. I've been going back and changing the URL right before I do my PR.

So basically I'll have 4-5 posts in a theme scheduled. Let's say "Aluminum siding". I'll do an Event post first titled "Aluminum Siding Company Offers Free Quotes in [city, state]. Then I'll stack 3-4 posts leading up to that first post, scheduled of course. On Friday we go back and add this URL instead to the buttons:
Code:
https://local.google.com/place?id=[insert-CID-here]&use=posts&lpsid=[data-post-id-here]

Then when I do the PR, the way we do PR is we include d0follow links to the Google properties. We embed the 4th/5th post in the stack in the PR by grabbing the google user content URL for the image in the post and then hyperlinking that to the CID + data-post-id above to whatever post the image is from.

It passes a ton of keyword relevance through all the posts and off onto the GMB. I want to play with these URL strings a little more and see if I can pass more keyword and location data.

We also do a ton of other tricky shit with YT embeds, podcast embeds, and YT citations and linking out to different properties in the GMB posts in the area where Local Viking usually insert the previous post link to help with node connections and Google correlating the properties with keywords and geo data.

This is something I am testing as well..

I am putting each post on patch.com with links back to the GMB post that printed on https://business.google.com/website/my-ac-company

Every GMB post is pushed back to these properties that every business that has a GMB gets. It is the same content as found on
https://my-ac-company.business.site/ but my preference is to build links and push the google.com domain.. More relevance? Who knows.. I am trying to get it to index to take a spot away from fucking yelp, angi or modernize..

Then I am tweeting both the GMB link and the Patch.com link.

I hate mentioning patch here I really don't want it to turn into a shit show. It is pretty clean now. I make everything I do there add value. I am averaging 5-10 calls per week on an $79 per month spend for featured business and it puts you in their email blasts and on the home page for the area you buy.

If you do a classified post there it will index very fast and it is global. I did one 1/2 off a service and it indexed to number 2 in the serps in less than 5 minutes. I logged into two vps to check there too, non local ip addresses and it was still there. PM me and I will give more details.

The patch.com classified is ranking Number 1 in google news for the exact title search. I will do more testing on this this week. To see if service+location type post will rank too.

Correct I am just rehasing the same post in Local Viking and setting it to repost every 8 days with a max number of 9999 and I am only using the the way LV does it I am not going back to post and changing it. Only touching it once. I look at my comp and they are doing zero. With the patch trick and deploying mass page sites I will dominate top 10 in the serps for my location based keywords.

If you are going back and editing I would use and editing I would use the url for the post on https://my-ac-company.business.site/posts/5769412121450214 to point back to.

What is getting posted there is the post and a link back to it. So You are passing link juice in a google property circle.

So with this I'd rather use the actual post being that if you open one of those pages on the business.google site the button had a "noreferrer" attribute on it, and the button on the local.google URL I use and that LV also uses doesn't. This prevents any clicks showing as referral traffic, and referral traffic showing in analytics is huge for ranking right now.

Now, I noticed the link in the body of the text had no attributes. So maybe going back and changing the buttons is useless. I may just change my strategy. Seems like just using the link where LV inserts it in the text, and using the button to link out to branded properties would be better all together.

Side note: People talk about CIDs not working but that's BS. It's all in the way you use them. If you're using them in properties you own that's a good thing. Which is why I want to use the CID and data-post-id for linking out to g posts.
