GMB backlinking

Is it better to backlink your GMB business.site, embed maps + maps short urls across web2.0, or backlink your GMB posts? How aggressive can you be (PBNs, Web2.0, Profile Edu's...) ?

You can be pretty aggressive. I wouldn't use GSA or Xrumer links, but web 2.0s work well.

If you want to rank higher in maps/map pack, link to your GMB listing. Business.site works better for organic, non map pack rankings.

Organically? It's kind of hard. Have reviews that mention your keyword so a snippet shows in the map pack, or in some areas Google is experimenting with putting snippets of "events" or "offers" posts in the map pack if they mention the searcher's keyword, so you could do that too.

Other than that, you'd have to run call only google ads

spam links to everything you got, there is no downside, only upside.

If you want to rank it on the local map, pack in at least 3 spots by doing the following
-must find websites relative to your niche (these have to be with real established businesses and no matter if they have GMB or not)
-you can develop it by using the archive to get back index some old ones (to put it operational, you must post 3-4 blog posts to refresh the content, and on all posts, use the anchor "you can find following places (or directions" depends from scenario)" which will point from blog post to domain.com/contact page.
The last thing you need to do is on the contact page and publish an iframe of 3-4 directions, not Google Maps for places but directions from usually big centres with crowds, such as shopping malls, stadiums and so on, to the GMB, which you aim to rank it.
In a week's time, you will be ranking in the top 3 (all depending on other factors), spot 1,2 or 3 for keyword area plus near me. I hope I have helped you.
