Gmail show a gray default profile icon instead of initials.

In Gmail, my from email shows a default gray profile icon instead of a profile initials in a color. I would like it to show the first letter of my name / my initials instead of the gray default icon.
Is this something that can be changed?
What determines whether Gmail shows a gray default avatar or initials?
Is there any way to Gmail to display initials instead of the generic gray profile icon?

Get on pc, log into gmail, change profile image to anything, remove it, look again. If it is not initials, then just upload picture of initials you made on canva or something. Update us soon
