Can I get someones IP from an email sent from gmail...

I'm getting anonymous emails threatening me and my family. I know who it is but with 100% proof I can really fuck him up with his career and those around him.

    I have the header information.

What can I do or does gmail hide personal IP's

    thanks

I am really sorry to hear this, and yes it is possible to do that!
Will update my post in a sec.

    Alright here you go:
If you have the new look of gmail, you will have to change back to the old look for this to work.

You can do that by going to this link: https://mail.google.com/mail/#settings/themes
And change the theme to "Bold blue".

After that, go back to the mail you've received. And hit the arrow next to reply.

    Than click: Sow orriginal.

That is the result. Enjoy my little tutorial!

    You legend!

If I do that though I get an IP from the USA.

If I use a different IP I get one from England plus this:

    Code:
    (cpc3-epso4-2-0-cust37.6-3.cable.virginmedia.com. [**.**.**.**])
Which I know matches his ISP.

Is that likely to be it? I know I could be making a fool of myself.

    Thanks

You don't need to change back to the old look. You can open that e-mail and next to the arrow (Reply button) there's a small triangle pointing down. Clicking that you will see "Show original" which is all you need.

To the OP - I know you did as menzow suggested, but this is for everyone else reading this thread to save them time, as there's no need to change the theme.
