Gmail And Newsletters

So before everyone tells me to use the search function, I already searched for this specific thread and could not find it. So if you can help me.

I read a thread about a month ago or somewhere around then about how gmail is now converting accounts so that newsletters go into a different folder other than the "inbox"

Can some one here perhaps help?

I noticed this change several days ago. It seems like most of my newsletter/promotional emails started (automatically) going into a new "Promotions" label/folder that Gmail created (without my permission).

I turned this new feature off, however, as I will decide what goes where. I don't need Google policing my emails like they do everything else.

Yes exactly. There was another thread that had a great conversation on this and their were some tips of how to change your newsletter footprint so it doesnt get filtrered. That is why I am looking for that original thread. Unless anyone else here has ideas on this.
