So im sure anyone here that uses a web proxy, knows what Glype is. its just a simple web based proxy script, revolving around complex curl calls and parsing through the page to return it to the viewer.
Even though the script is the best web based proxy script out there, that doesn't say much at all.. Its very insecure and unstable. It has memory leaks galore, and its about as unstable as it gets for a web proxy.
However, I took the time to seek out the flaws and memory leaks, I spent countless hours perfecting the script. My changes are as below.
1) Cut out the memory leaks
2) Fixed the javascript parsing (most sites revolving around JS, like twitter, wouldnt work, because it wouldnt parse the JS, hence your browser was actually trying to pull the JS scripts straight from twitter, so if you were blocked, it wouldnt work. Tested by modifying my hosts file to block js based websites)
3) The css for the form on the proxified pages would interfere with the CSS on the proxified page, I was able to put the form on a primary page, and the proxified content in a iframe/div that was 100% the remainder of the page, hence, no interference.
4) I add some other cool features, such as the page load time, and the location of the proxified web page. This was a bit more complex, as it had to get he information from a webpage within the iframe.
5) If you created an account, you were able to add favorites and view history, as well as custom browser settings, these would be re-applied every time you logged in from anywhere. this was discontinued though, as a proxy is for privacy, not many ppl signed up
6) I was able to append a signature to select fields, much like if you were to post an update on facebook, or download a vbulletin mobile app and post on websites, it would append "posted via ___ mobile", this would append "posted via *my proxy*"
Me being the nice guy I am, I messaged him, I said he can have all the code, and instructions on how to use it, if I get a month of free advertising (75 bucks worth). The lazy kid hasn't updated his script in YEARS, some php functions are disabled in the next php release. I figured that would be cool, win win, he gets a better proxy script, I get some free advertising. He has to do NOTHING..
Whats he do? He denies my offer, and "demands" that I give my script to him, as its a modified version of the script he purchased from another party. Thats right, he never even coded this, he purchased the rights to the script. its a free, un-encrypted script.
It seems like I showed him an example of my script, and how it works, and he realized that he doesnt know how to code any of that as well as I did, or make the proxy as fast and secure as how I did, and just straight up thought he could pass the work off as his own.
He started to bring up all these BS allegations, like 2 years ago I used the phrase "Proxify everything" on a proxy, I got a warning that that was a copyrighted phrase, and removed it, he brought that up again like he could pull that into some legal matter.
To conclude this, I removed the modified version of glype, and implemented a modified version of phproxy, it just ironically looks and acts the exact same. Here is his reply.

So what do you think? To sum this up, he is lazy and hasn't fixed or recoded his broken proxy in like 3 years, I fix it and make it perfect, and offer to share it with him for some advertising spots, he said no and demanded I give him MY script that I changed. Its technially got more code from me than was originally there in the first place. Is he being a total douche, or is that just how I see it?
