Glype and IPs for Market Samurai

I see that there are plenty of php/curl based proxies server scripts that I can get my hands on, the most popular probably being glype. My question is, if I install glype or other php based software, can I access the proxy for stand alone use with Market Samurai, or are these strictly for browser use? I DO intend on installing these on free servers BTW, so server access will be limited.
