Giving walmart a broken PS3 controller?

So I had a friend mention this to me at work. The thing is I have a broken PS3 controller that won't power on or anything. I thought, hm, I could go to Walmart, buy a new one, and then swap them out and put the broken one back in the box. My only problem is I don't know how risky this is. I know Walmart really doesn't care about much, but would they check the serial number on the controller? Like does anyone know if they track them? I'm just wondering how risky this is...but if I can get away with it that would be awesome

I have heard of people doing this successfully, it def. works. But again, not sure about the serial number part!

Hahahah wow thanks Nah but I just found out the serial number on the PS3 controller is just a sticker...so I'll just buy a new one and put that serial code sticker on my old one and return now. So easy. Now I feel stupid for posting this.

Ah ha! So you are the guy responsible for that damn broke PS3 controller I bought....Now I have to get my fat ass
back into my car and return it.

EDIT: Let me bestow some brilliance lol...

1. Put out an Ad on Craigslist and local fliers "Will buy broken PS3 Controllers for $10"
2. Order quantities of controllers from walmart online.
3. Save your paperwork!
4. Repackage all of them and return the broken ones.

Now log in to a stealth eBay account and happy selling ;D

Disclaimer: I do not condone anyone to try this method...It could lead to consequences like making good money or watching day time TV in jail for a week or two.
