Giveaway and charge shipping method is dead?

    Hello,
    I'm on the way with shopify dropshipping. I'm testing some products but it costs me some money. I intend to use giveaway method to make some money to continue testing and also motivate myself
    i'm wondering if this method is dead or not?

    Bro, why don't you test it and see how it goes, before asking if it's dead.

    @newbiebyg Method is not really dead. But the issue lies with chargeback rate. As buyer eventually will find out the actual cost of your product especially if you are doing dropshipping. If you are bulk buyer, you already have the price advantage so this method will still work well. No buyer likes to be stupid and over pay for something.

    Mate the method still works for some people and for some stores but I would give a general opinion not to do it.

    People get pissed off when they get to the checkout and see that the item which was once free now has a charge attached, it's just how people are; everyone wants something for free.

    People get annoyed when they go to buy something worth $100+ and see that there is a $5 shipping fee as well.

    For the best results in my opinion, I would suggest you just offer products with the shipping fee already included in the price and offer your customers free shipping.

    Free shipping is always a good incentive for people and you don't need to do gimmicks like this to drive sales.

    I can tell you, tested both retail and F+S method. With the same targeted traffic I had a few retail sales and when I did the F+S method I got ca. 60+ orders within the same period.

    Around 90% of my orders are f+s products

    It is not dead, but you will have to keep an eye on the chargebacks

    What is your chargeback rate and returns if you don't mind sharing? F+S is notoriously well known for returns and chargeback to the point that Stripe as a payment processor states clearly in their terms of service that this type of business model will not be accepted by them. Paypal is also beginning to give problem with such models of late due to chargeback and disputes rate raising. How do you handle the payment processor aspect? Will be good if you can share more indepth about this.

    Honestly i did both and sales were about same, just 150 more abandoned carts for the one month i did free plus shipping. If you want the depression of seeing hundreds of abandoned carts then do free plus shipping.
