Give up or insist on it?

This is more a rant than a question, but when do you decide it is time to move on and start a new site?



I have a site that is an authority type, only premium content, a good design and lots of backlinks. Not going to lie, almost all links are PBNs but it is from good PBNs. I paid premium prices for it.



The site was making around 400 USD a month on Amazon affiliates but traffic is decreasing little by little every month.



I made around 300 USD last month and will make just a little over that this month due to Prime day.



When I check my site and compare it against competitors, my website beats them all in metrics, higher DA, PA, links, FB shares... but I am on average on position 11 for the target keywords, which means mostly the first on second page. For example, if I check my target keyword on Kwfinder, it gives my site a competition points of around 37. Sites that are in the top positions on first page usually have below 20.

I know you can`t blindly guide yourself by these metrics, but this is the only ones you can “see” and compare since you don`t actually know what Google considers.



I am kinda of lost. The site is 11 months old. Should I leave it and start a new one or keep building links to it?

hard to say mate, are the backlinks you bought and paid for all still there or have a lot been lost ?

Other option is to flip the site.

Backlinks are still indexed. Google webmaster tools take ages to update but when I google the links, they are indexed.

from what i have learnt, which isn't that much yet, maybe you should not make too many links too quickly/ improve the site making only links as this doesnt look like what a naturally ranking site would do.

maybe target slightly less competitive keywords and rank for them and link your pages to others. write a lot of supporting content even if it isnt promoting a product and give some good/useful information to the reader.

try a press release

How long does it takes for a new backlink to pass juice? My site is 11 months old and I`ve been backlinking since month 4.
If I flip it, how much should I expect to get?

The point at which you rant about it on BHW is the point at which you need to consider moving on IMHO. Can't get too obsessed on one project. Start a new project and have two lines in the water.

Use the money it makes to fund your next project.. let it die slowly. As a pheonix rises from it's ashes

Well keep it going for at least another month, that way you will have 12 months trading figures to show any potential buyers.
You should still be creating other sites but I would still keep it for another 6 months.
As long as it is making more than you are spending on it then it is still viable.
If you can't get it to move any further then flip it at 18 months.

If you really need the money then flip it now.

If you can afford to risk that income going down further then keep going.

I think maybe some of those pbn links are dropping or google knows they are pbns (latest update google doing less penalties and more just disregarding crap links completely).

So you need to either keep building pbns if they are dropping off, and/or start building some real links as well - niche guest posts that actually get traffic, and such like.

Just keep building links, give it a few more months before you decide. If you see a constant decrease in your monthly revenue, then I think you should be moving on to a next project.
