Interesting take. Would you use your day to lift heavy things for free for strangers? I dont feel like im being a jerk. I feel like they are jerks for asking me to move their shit all day for free. I mean WTF? I wouldnt ask someone to do this.
However, the other side of the argument is that they are too poor and helpless to do it themselves and Im some strong guy that can offer them relief.

Would you give a day for a stranger? If so, why not go right now to a soup kitchen? I mean they are strangers, and you could get off your ass and help them too. In fact, you could devote your entire life to community service, yet your are typing here on the forums.

lol helping here is so 100% standard, i can't imagine any guy saying no. this is a perfect opportunity to meet her friends. there's no worse judgment they could hold against you than if you refused to help out of sheer laziness. your girl's friends CAN blackball your relationship. they have the power.

Toolboy has a point. She cried probably because of the embarrassment she'd face when it becomes clear she can't make her dude do as she pleases.
Apart from that, this whole 'I help you you help me because we both are poor' does nothing but keep you poor forever. Better to realize I am a sad creature for not having money even for some movers. It may just be the motivation I need to finally start making enough to not have to rely on others time donations.
