There is so much spam from retards, who are trying to sell their stupid products here. Most of the time the spam is removed in a few minutes. But sometimes when there are no moderators / admins are online, it can take longer.

It's fucking annoying but not a huge problem. But we all want to improve the BHW community and the forum. I thought that if you add like 5 ghost moderators, the spam will be almost zero. That means that these people don't get a "moderator" status. Nobody knows who these ghost moderators are. Instead of reporting the threads everything, they can delete it directly.

You also can use these ghost moderators to get the threads in the right section. They can do easy tasks like that.

Pick some active members here with different timezones. I think that this is a good option to get a better forum (less spam).

Note: I'm typing this on my phone, I didn't spend a lot of time on this thread. So ignore the broken English sentences.

They just recruited two new Moderators... I think they're doing an excellent job at reducing spam and moderating the forum as it is.

Edit - Not calling your idea a horrible one by any means but the MOD's here are proactively working towards reducing spam, scams and any other nonsense that goes on and the most recent effort to accomplishing this as I outlined about is their recent recruitment of two new MOD's on the forum (@davids355 and @soccerlover).

The more experienced members already know scams and report, anyway not a lot gets past the mods and there are another two very experienced and capable members as new mods, so it'll get even tougher for scammers

I agree to this idea completely. I have seen that a lot of times such threads are able to survive for up to an hour. This does not look professional. I am online here in Indian day time.

Only problem I see with this is if the 'trusted' members chosen decide to target any and all threads that may pose a threat to their bst threads.

They could remove posts from any member with a link or signature that competes with their own business.

They obviously wouldnt be allowed to have an open BST, like all other staff positions.

I think we should call them ninjas

Sounds like the title of a bad horror movie, where ghost moderators haunt forum spammers IRL.

I think that is a good idea, i see ton of spam at UTC11, reports usually take quite long to handle too.

Nice idea, but just picking active members isn't enough. It would be easy to abuse power if no one knew who it was...

    England, I believe.

I had a response to this thread drafted up, but it was too long, so I didn't post it. Essentially, I'm not a fan of this idea because whenever a thread is anonymously closed or moved, it confuses some of the members here and leads to them opening up a thread in this section asking why their thread was moved or closed. This is why you see many of the moderators here post "Thread Moved/Closed" in threads.

    I’m in the UK (Scotland).

and it’s not a bad idea I suppose, but what is the benefit of having ghost mods - it still requires the same training, the same work and so on, so why the need for them to be invisible? Might as well just get a few more moderators on board to cover the full 24 hour window.

They are invisible so that they dont get spammed by users asking for support as moderating spam would be their only job

BHW makes enough and can pay all moderators some basics . I dont see why people would volunteer to clean up the mess - that's owner and stuff duty. We watch advertisements , people pay for vip. It's not like the owner doesn make a dime and we all have to volunteer

im not for or against, but what i will say is, u can bet there are alot of users here
who would help, paid or not payed, not everyone is motivated by money
some people help for helps sake of a place they enjoy being part of.

i use to moderate spam at aliveproxy 2002-2006
with 2 mods , over 1 million users, i never asked for a dime.
not everyone is about the money pft.

everyday - thousands of spam posts, everyday we cleaned it off.
sadly i quit 2006 when for some odd reason, the owner of alive proxy
started posting troganed proxie tools, and we mods took the flack from
forum members. so i left the owner a pm telling him to stick his job up his ass,
as no way in hell im getting sht for his stupidity from the forum members.

    2 yrs later i was here .
