I submitted my site to googles "Reconsideration request" as I think the previous owner managed to get this domain name blacklisted! :( I didn't know this before purchasing from godaddy auctions! :(

Anyways, I have added some content and then made a request through webmaster tools, plus proving to them i am the new owner! They can see with the Whois that I am the new owner!

I go this reply from them:

"Reconsideration request for http://www.******.com/: Site violates Google's quality guidelines"

Plus some other automated crap in that email, but gives me no advice on how to fix the problem!

:(

This is the link to googles quality guidelines:

I dont know what I am doing wrong here! I have ran domain through yahoo site explorer and there are no links pointing to it at all! Apart from 5 all from a warrior forum sig that i created recently. So no bad backlinks.

I have wordpress installed on the site and made two posts. One was a pic with some text and the other was a welcome to our site style post, about 250 words, original content. And also links out too google.com and a wikipedia page.

Intrestingly, I checked Awstats and see that I get external link traffic from these sites:

- http://www.sitemeter.com
- http://dominateseowithwordpress.com
- http://weblogin/telanjang.org
- http://weblogin/chinatownvideo.com

What are these then? None of the above sites carry my link? or anything to do with my domain name! Some of those links dont even work and the once that do are just normal looking sites.

Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks

Any possibility that your new content would rub Google the wrong way?

Also, the first URL you listed suggested the possibility of one or more ping XML files. Maybe there's an old ping link or 50 there.

hatcheck, dont think so mate. Its a simple blog with two posts its "safe for work", its harmless. The domain name is a good one too, short and easy to remember. Not a "sexy" domain name or anything like that.

Yeah google is really funny, had the same problem, funny how they spot the problems, but don't point on how to fix the problem. The Google webmaster forum got a bunch of dick heads to, don't border to ask them.

Are you able to check the web archive and see what contents were on the site before? One technical aspect you could look into is the following: Does your server / site gives out an 404 error message when you request some bogus URL like www.xxxxxx.com/blabla.htm ? It might be that your server responds with a 200 OK message telling google that he actually has this page. Now it might be that google requested an old URL (from the previous owner) from the banned site, got the 200 OK message and thinks that this infringing banned site is still alive. This might be the reason why they deny your request.

Did you find out what the issue is yet? Maybe you have malicious activity coming from your domain - check your security.

Thanks for your detailed reply.

Yeah i have checked the "way back machine" there doesn't seem to be any funny activity on there in the past from my untrained eye!

But having said that, it seems to have been some kinda free movie streaming site/amazon affiliate store! :( So maybe the free movie download anit a goo thing in googles eyes!

When i enter a bogus request on the end of my domain name i do get a "sorry we dont seem to have this page" via my wordpress theme. I think this is a feature of the theme, so you could be right but how would i fix this?

Could I send you a pm john with my url? I'm not that technicaly minded lol

^^^ thats good.... so do you have any advice?

At least they replied confirming your site still violated their policy.

Try going for a year and no response.

If you got new quality content on new but used domain then to me it sounds like you have some links pointing to your site that you need to get taken down.

Maybe their are more links pointing to your website than what Yahoo site explorer is showing. This is common if your domain was out of commission for a while by not being online.

Try googling "yourdomain.com" with quotes and see what other pages are still linking to yours and then try to get those pages to stop linking to yours if you suspect link spamming on those pages.
