Getting Upfront Offers with AC

I've been working with them for a while now (since 2009), and I haven't ever gotten an upfront payment.

After my first few offer rejections, I just started submitting things for Display only. I make a good amount from pageviews, but it would be nice to get the upfronts too.

The rejections were simply "Thanks for your submission, but we don't give upfronts on this type of article."

For those of you making money consistently from upfronts, what type of articles do you do? Even a vague point in the right direction would be appreciated, as I'm obviously missing something here.

for me the money isn't in up front payment the money is in monetizing the traffic you get form the articles, that is where I make most of my money.
