Getting Traffic from social media?

I am creating a authority site mainly for Indian traffic, to acquire the traffic I am thinking of running social media accounts on tumblr, facebook, twitter, pinterest. Is it a good Idea? Any tips?

It is a good idea to have social media for your websites. But it does depend alot on how popular any particular social media is popular in your specific country (your case India). plus from my experience it also depends alot on what products are you selling. here is an example: if you are selling expensive products 5k$+ than I am not really sure your Social Media will generate a lot of leads, unless you are an well known and established brand.

i use google+, twitter, and facebook every 6 or 7 hours for alot of my threads. the public sees them and i get sometimes hundreds of visitors. i use a social network application to post on all of them at once. then come back and do it later

I've found social media good for getting awareness of the brand but not for getting links to the money site

Yes it is a good idea. You're going to have to do alot of following to get followers so you can redirect traffic back to your site

i get traffic from my social pages but is not converting,if traffic isn't making sales then is worthless

If it's for adsense then for sure Social Networking sites interactions are good to go. Even I recommend you to set your hours per day for Social Activity. This would definitely helps to engage with audience and lower your bounce rate if you treat your social campaign naturally. They will be "subscribe Readers" of Your blog/website.
