Getting sued, want to share my thoughts!

As long as you took down their content you'll be fine. If it was physical, published material then you may have a problem- but being it that it is the internet, and you take it down, they can't pursue any legal action.

Copyrighted images? I'm shocked... Sounds like a company which is trying to earn more from copyrights than actually doing something.

Nice Idea to eliminate you competition. Search their site with copyscape. Claim to be the owner of the content. Demand a take down. Your competitors would sh#* their pants...

Copyright images... Oh you mean the thousands found on google....

lol... Germany is honestly a bit tougher as most of you think. I hope you got it solved man! my stepfather in law (or whatever you call that, lol) ones got a €1000 fine because he shared Bushido music by accident. He doesn't even listen to it. lol

The best advice here is never use your real name for domains or hosting - offsore is the best decision for Blackhat I think

In our country (EU), Getty Images is using this tactics: They use local law firm and they threaten you, that they will report you to the authorities (it is illegal here to use copyrighted material and you have to pay fines - about 1700?).

So Getty offers an settlement which is a little lower then fines. So.. you don't have much else to do than to settle.

I didnt read the whole thread but a lot of lawyers will give you a free consult even if it is just 15 minutes

the very worst thing is to ignore the letter - then your case will be review without your presence... there are some companies that live on that: they sue small people and if they don't appear in court - they make loads of money.

sort it out!! - only after that you will be able to sleep normaly

everyone listen closely. ALL DOMAINS, ALL HOSTING - Anonyomous - period!. i used to have a sig selling anon domains. no one was interested, now look at what he's going to have to deal with which could have been avoided for $25.00

NEVER GET U.S. hosting or registrars ever again people. never even purchase under your name. the op is going to pay a retainer that's going to be GONE after two months of e-mails without ever going to court. he doesn't even know he's in this for $6k-$10k. 25 bucks would have avoided all this.

Def not ignore legal letters because it will be used against you. Especially if it was sent certified mail

Anon domain registration is cheap... bigrock.com (india) offers it for only $10
