What advice would you give to someone who is new to Weibo (and knows little about it)?

As a beginner, I would like to know more about the mechanisms of content discovery on the platform and what kind of content gets the most traction. Please share any tips for newcomers.

I'd spend some time browsing first and see what people in your niche are actually engaging with. Then build your content around that.

weibo can be good platform to explore, especially if you are targeting Chinese audiences.

Popular and interesting topics are known as "hot searches." There is also a daily check in feature where Weibo gives you money. It's quite interesting.

i'd just spend some time on weibo first and see what people in your niche are actually liking and sharing then go from there

hashtags and trending topics can help discovery but i'd only use ones that actually fit the content.

the discovery side can feel confusing at first following active accounts in your niche is probably the easiest way to learn what's working.

start by following popular accounts in your niche, use the right hashtags and post stuff people in China actually care about, then see what gets more views.

You have to jump into whatever’s trending, add a hashtag or two, and share fun pics or short clips. Pick just one niche and stick with it, and try to post things people actually want to reply to or share.

Hot searches seem worth paying attention to but jumping into a trend late might not do much check how people r reacting to similar posts nd whether the discussion is still active before joining in

In my opinion, the best approach for newcomers is to thoroughly understand the platform before focusing on growth. Observe and identify the types of content that generate the most interest. A new user should select three or four key topics relevant to their field and remain active on them daily. The optimal time to post is between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM (Beijing time); consistency can yield positive results over time.

To be honest, it would be better nt to post things in the western style directly but rather see what the chinese users are talking about and develop the posts around that conversation.
