Hello, all am looking for a bit of general advice on how to jumpstart my freelance career.

Grey/blackhat methods welcome

Am a web designer with a newly formed company, have a website and have my services and demo portfolio on the site but am struggling to sign clients.

Anyone that I have spoken to regarding making a website is reluctant due to my lack of actual client experience but even when offering free or discounted websites in exchange for testimonials they don't like that, presumably because they perceive the website to be cheap quality when it would not be.

I have tried posting on Fiverr even for low prices but even then not much traction due to no reviews and am not aware of a way to get fake reviews to boost traction for more expensive products. Even if i priced the website at £1-300.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hard to tell why are your potential customers rejecting a free job in exchange for a testimonial without seeing your site.
No mind readers in BHW as far as I know.

You can create 5-6 sample sites with great quality and keep them in sub-domains of your site. Post their screenshots and links in your profile. You can tell people to check these sample sites. If you really create high quality sites, then they can see the content instead of testimonials. You can also purchase a few fake reviews to create initial traction.

What kind of reviews do you recommend? google biz reviews or what?

That is perhaps the way to go for OP.

If you are working on fiver, you need to review on fiver, google biz review won't help. Offer cheap, be online, be patient, you will get work.

You should get reviews from the platform where you get customers. If you get customers from Fiverr, then you need Fiverr reviews. If you get customers through a Facebook page, then you need fb reviews. There are many sellers who provide Fiverr reviews.

Stick around here. Get your post counts to 100, upgrade to jr. then open a sales thread here.

Offer 50% off for the first 5 customers and you'll get clients.

Offer the best service you can produce at a fair price.
Forget blackhat methods.
