Getting search traffic data for a certain city

I doubt such a tool exists... tracking results per city would be close to impossible due to inaccurate IP tracking IMO. I could be wrong though... why do need such data? If you're trying to rank for city specific keywords it should be apparent how many searches are coming from that specific city anyway?

Most of the time when people are looking for services or products in a very specific location (such as a city) they use the name of the city in their search query. For instance if I want to search for "auto parts suppliers" and I know that Google will return results that are not local to me (assuming I want a local parts supplier), I would type in "auto parts supplier cityname". Even if a searcher doesn't know that right away, they will learn it through a process of trial and error when the results they get are not localized when they needed them to be.
With that in mind, use the Google keyword tool or some other tool to search for data on city specific queries for the city you are targeting. Then you will see how many global and monthly searches come up for your target city. Of course that won't tell you how many searches are happening in that city for those key terms (without the city name included) but it will give you a good idea if the phrases are worth pursuing.
