Looking for some tips for getting past the gatekeeper when you walk into a business.
You: Move bitch, get out da way!
Guard: Yes Sir!
Then walk in. Works every time.
It's an art requiring persistence and usually involves manipulating women. If you are good with the ladies you'll have some success. Have a professional leave behind when you first don't get by. Otherwise, you'll have to go around rather than past the gatekeeper.
2. Keep Smiling
3. Build rapport with the gate keeper (especially women)
strike a conversation to let the gate keeper talk about
their jobs or themselves, I used this statement at a Dr. Office
Before even saying hello to a gate keeper "I really appreciate
and respect people like you who deals with the customers day
in day out, do mean and angry customer mess your day?"
She brightened up and started talking blah, blah....
So be friendly to the gatekeeper take time to talk to them
"DO NOT IGNORE THEM WHATSOEVER"
( I flirt a little bit without diluting my professionalism)
do the Dracula method- get invited in
Why don't you save yourself some time and call and make an appointment? It always amazes me how people think that cold WALKING is more effective. Like they are going to somehow see you and think "oh, I need to talk to this guy and I need his service." No, they are just going to do the exact same thing they would on the phone...tell you to leave your information, or, they'll talk to you, but they aren't qualified until you spend time qualifying them...waste of time.
On one attempt at a walk in (where you risk a gatekeeper saying no, where you risk the DM not being available or in, where you risk that they will now KNOW who you are and block your calls and walk-ins even more adamantly), you are wasting valuable time you could be spending either setting your own appointments via phone, or going on ACTUAL appointments where people are qualified and know you are coming.
Would you your money like that? No? Then why would you waste your time like that?
What are you trying to sell? If we had a better idea of what you were selling....i could give some better answers. I used to cold call businesses as a telemarketer (using different scripts....depending on the business type...to get past the gatekeeper). Different businesses require a different tact.
We still do cold calling (have for 10 years)...and while there are ways to get past a gatekeeper, walking into a business trying to do so isn't the best way to make money for yourself. See my answer above, as to why it's a waste of time. It's also completely different in person than over the phone so your phone tactics from telemarketing aren't going to work IF he does go in person.
It's very simple, try Jason Kanigans approach. It's called the "a little unsure" technique, and he explains it here and the psychology behind it.. shit works, whether its walking in cold or calling.
