We have a website where we would like to be able to accept some online donations, but we also want to remain anonymous. Surprised? So we basically have the same problem as everybody else posting on this site. Lol.
Although it is by far not the ideal situation, we saw that if you setup a business account with PayPal then you can have a business name show on your payment profile. Then people who pay you will only see the business name and none of your personal information, correct?
Of course we don’t really trust PayPal for privacy, I don’t think anyone does, but it is a payment gateway that at least the people who will be paying you will feel comfortable with. So it has that advantage.
Anyway, my situation right now is a bit complex and I am not sure how to even set up the PayPal account correctly. There also seems to be no way to contact PayPal to ask them a question directly at the moment. If you already have an account with them then you can message them it seems, but I don’t have an account yet. Their telephone support also seems to be completely shut down too right now because of the Covid situation. So one can’t call them to ask a question either.
So here is my problem. I am stuck in a country right now that doesn’t speak English and I probably wont be flying out of here for another 6-7 months. Then the bank account I want to connect to the PayPal account is a country in Europe that I don’t speak the Language of and I normally reside most of the time in another country which also isn’t an English speaking country.
So the PayPal websites of the country where I am now, the country where the bank account is, and the country where I reside most of the time are all in languages that I don’t speak. I guess I could try leanring 3 more languages first?
I did try setting up PayPal business account on all of those sites of those 3 countries though using Chrome browser to translate the sites into English, which was OK, but on each site I ran into other problems getting the account setup because of laws about business registration in those countries, tax ID number issues, etc.
So my 2 questions are this:
1 – Is there any PayPal country site with English language on the website and where I can setup a business account using a bank account in one European country and a street address in another European country, but without having to have all kinds of business registration papers and tax ID numbers to setup the PayPal business account?
2 – Or, is there a good alternative to PayPal where I can setup an account to receive online payment donations via credit card, but where the company won’t reveal any personal information when someone pays you a donation, but is also a payment gateway where people will feel comfortable enough to put in their credit card information? Maybe Stripe would work for this?
