These days everyone should know about powerlikes and how they work.

You upload a post and "big accounts" like your video giving you a better chance to hit the explore page if you have viral content.

What is your opinion on buying regular likes and comments within the first hour of posting with the sole purpose of making instagram think your content is getting highly engaged so they show it to more users and possibly the explore page?

I think that Instagram doesn't work like that anymore. You might be able to rank at the top of a medium-popularity hashtag with botted powerlikes, but since explore pages are custom-catered to each Instagram users' personal likes and activity, it's a lot harder than it seems. It could work however, which is why there are so many DM/Engagement groups with big influencers in them, but unless your post is in a very specific niche it would be a challenge.

Not to mention account age, follower count, activity, etc.

On YouTube, it's quite easy to rank a video in the #1 position for a keyword if you know what you're doing, even if you have practically no subscribers. You just SEO-optimize your title, description, and buy HR ad views/likes/comments. Instagram is more of a challenge

Yeah, I think so, too. It is definitely more complex. I am just trying out all the growth options in my mind besides the ovious follow/unfollow because I feel like the real big guys use some other tactics.
